Temporary Part-Time (Up to 19 Hours per Week)
Summary
Point Loma Nazarene University is seeking a Temporary Ministry Coordinator to support the Border Engagement Ministries program during the Fall semester. Working alongside the University Chaplain and Student Life team, this position provides administrative, logistical, and program support for ministry experiences that engage students with communities along the San Diego–Tijuana border.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys coordinating events, supporting students, and serving in a Christ-centered ministry environment. The role focuses primarily on organizing logistics and ensuring ministry experiences run smoothly while supporting the broader mission of Student Life and Formation.
Salary:
Pay range $20.91 - $22.58
Actual salary offered is determined by the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and other factors, including internal equity and university funding resources.

Comfortable working with students, faculty, volunteers, and community partners

Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic ministry environment
Spanish language skills are helpful but not required
Knowledge and experience working with a diverse population is preferred
What You'll Be Doing
Coordinate logistics for Border Engagement ministry experiences, including day trips, weekend opportunities, and special events
Assist with scheduling, registration, participant communication, and event preparation
Coordinate transportation, supplies, materials, and hospitality for ministry activities
Support student leaders and volunteers participating in ministry events
Communicate with campus departments and community ministry partners regarding logistics
Maintain ministry records, calendars, and documentation
Assist with promotion of Border Engagement opportunities to students
Support educational events and special programs related to border engagement
Provide administrative support to the University Chaplain and Student Life team
Perform other duties as assigned in support of Border Engagement Ministries
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
Experience coordinating events, ministry programs, or volunteer activities preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU's Community Life Covenant.
