We’re hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for our Cleveland Rolling Mill night shift. In this role, you’ll support plant operations by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, gearboxes, overhead cranes, and power transmission equipment. You’ll also partner with the electrical maintenance team while contributing to a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Highlights
- Schedule: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, 5-2-2-5 rotating shift
- Environment: Industrial setting with exposure to heat, cold, dirt, grease, and heights
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Occasional climbing, reaching, balancing, and working below waist level or above shoulders
- Use of hand tools, forceful motion, and precision work
- Must meet physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or GED (free GED program available)
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience
- Expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, welding, machining, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read blueprints and use technical manuals
- Safe operation of forklifts, cranes, and aerial lift platforms
- Basic math and computer skills
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Journeyman certification or apprenticeship completion
- Welding experience (SMAW, MIG, and/or TIG)
- Steel industry experience
- Basic understanding of electrical drives
- Safety awareness training
Major Accountabilities
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment across the facility
- Analyze test results, error messages, and operator feedback to diagnose and resolve issues
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, calibrations, installations, and equipment support
- Collaborate with Electrical Maintenance Technicians to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Maintain accuracy within the parts inventory system
- Utilize machining centers to fabricate or modify parts as needed
- Comply with all Environmental, Quality, and Safety Management System procedures and requirements
