Primary Function
To lead and manage the development, delivery, and evaluation of DoD security guard training programs in compliance with DoD Directive 3305.13 and related policies, ensuring personnel are qualified to perform security duties in physical, personnel, and information security disciplines
Essential Duties
Program Development and Curriculum Design
Develop and update training curricula for DoD security guard programs, aligning with DoD Security Education, Training, and Certification standards
Integrate GS101.01 and other prerequisite courses into training pipelines, ensuring eLearning and instructor-led components are completed before on-site training
Incorporate risk management, threat identification, insider threat awareness, and security policy into guard training modules
Training Delivery and Management
Oversee instructor-led training sessions, including classroom instruction, simulations, and practical exercises.
Coordinate with the DoD Security Training Council (DSTC) and SPED Program for curriculum alignment and certification requirements
Manage training schedules, resources, and facilities for DoD security guard courses.
Compliance and Standards
Ensure all training meets OPM GS-0085/0080 qualification standards, including specialized experience in protective systems, techniques, and compliance with local laws
Enforce DoD security policies, including classified information handling, communications security, and technology transfer regulations
Assessment and Certification
Administer assessments, evaluations, and certification processes for security guard candidates.
Maintain records of training completion, certifications, and compliance with DoD security requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provide guidance to security guards, supervisors, and training staff on DoD security protocols.
Monitor training effectiveness and make adjustments to improve outcomes.
Coordinate with DoD components, combatant commands, and field activities to meet mission-specific security needs
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of DoD security policies, risk management and threat mitigation
Ability to design and delivery effective training programs
Proficiency in managing compliance, assessments, and certification processes
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
College-level study in security, criminal justice, or related field (PREFERRED)
Successful completion of accredited technical school training in physical security procedures, investigation techniques, or related subjects for GS-4 Level Security
Minimum 6 months of specialized experience in federal, state, municipal or private protective organization or military/Coast Guard duties
Experience in security training, curriculum development, or program management (PREFERRED)
Must hold or be eligible for a DoD security clearance, including access to classified information handling requirements
Working Environment
This is an on-site, fast-paced multi-tasking customer service-oriented environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. Adaptability regarding schedule and task changes is necessary to accommodate changing priorities. This position is normally 5 days a week M-F. However, weekends and after hour support may be required.
