Definition of Responsibility
The Adult Guardianship Case Manager serves under the general direction of the Deputy Court Administrator (Programs) and works collaboratively with Trust Clerks to ensure cases are processed through the Court efficiently pursuant to the standards established by the Guardianship Differentiated
Case Management Plan. The Guardianship Case Manager assists attorneys and unrepresented parties to navigate the judicial processes involved in a guardianship proceeding. Additionally, the position supervises the Guardianship Case Navigator and provides support to the management of guardianship
programs and the development of new initiatives. The position has general oversight by the Lead Guardianship Judge.
Essential Job Duties
- Reviews filings to guardianship cases, making recommendations to the judge(s) as appropriate.
- Drafts letters, orders, notices, and related material as directed.
- Contacts parties to schedule hearings in matters that fall outside of Central Assignment’s scheduling responsibilities.
- Maintains the court’s roster of attorneys eligible to serve in guardianship cases. Supports prospective and appointed guardians to navigate the judicial system by providing appropriate
- Court forms, referrals for support services, and ensuring compliance with orientation and training programs as required by statute.
- Acts as intermediary in contacts and communications with community stakeholders.
- Co-Hosts Zoom for Government remote hearings for Judges on the Guardianship Bench.
Performs other assigned duties or tasks as required.
Plus
Five years relevant professional experience in a court or legal setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior work in or understanding of guardianship policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and case information.
- Exercise good judgement, tact, and diplomacy in professional interactions with Court personnel and the public.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative setting.
- Knowledge of legal terminology, forms, methods, and procedures; preference given to candidates with knowledge of guardianship procedures and policies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft systems

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes. This position is a non-merit unclassified position with the Circuit Court for Baltimore County and subject to the personnel policies and procedures of the Court. This position is part of the Court’s Family Division,which is grant funded by a grant from the Maryland Administrative Office of the Courts.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification is essentially sedentary but may include occasional walking, standing, lifting of boxes, or other limited physical activities.
