Job Description

Your Role

The Senior Principal, Fund Assurance provides independent oversight and strategic guidance across mutual funds, ETFs, and complex products to strengthen controls, governance, and third-party administrator (TPA) oversight. The role drives a scalable assurance framework through effective governance, risk monitoring, and accountability practices while ensuring regulatory compliance. It also leads the adoption of data analytics, automation, and AI-enabled solutions to enhance risk detection, improve efficiency, and support proactive, insight-driven decision-making. Success in this role requires strong accounting and regulatory expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to influence outcomes through collaboration and data-driven insights.

You will be responsible for:

  • Serving as a senior assurance lead and technical escalation point for complex, non-routine fund accounting matters across mutual funds, ETFs, and alternative or complex products, including NAV exceptions, pricing issues, capital activity, and structural events

  • Applying independent judgment to assess accounting, operational, and control issues, ensuring appropriate treatment in accordance with regulatory guidance, GAAP, internal policy, and risk management expectations

  • Ensure execution of SQP tools: Issue log, open items, KPIs and Sentiment indexes to drive strong outcomes at the TPAs

  • Partnering closely with Fund Assurance leadership and key stakeholders to strengthen execution quality, control integrity, and risk-based oversight across multiple product types and operating models

  • Advising on accounting, operational, and control considerations related to complex investment exposures, including derivatives, structured instruments, private or less-liquid investments, and non-standard pricing inputs as they impact NAV and reporting

  • Driving innovation and process enhancement opportunities through automation, data analytics, exception-based review practices, and improved use of fund accounting systems and reporting tools, with a focus on advancing, standardizing, and institutionalizing the ABOR data platform globally as a core enabler of scalable, risk-based assurance.

  • Supporting strategic initiatives such as fund launches, reorganizations, mergers, liquidations, and operating model changes by performing readiness assessments and advising on scalable control design

  • Providing expert review and challenge over NAVs, financial statements, distributions, and regulatory filings to ensure accurate, consistent, and well-controlled application of accounting standards

  • Acting as a senior liaison with internal partners, auditors, third-party administrators, custodians, and technology or data teams on complex accounting, oversight, and reporting matters

  • Identifying root causes, systemic risks, and control gaps, and leading remediation or enhancement efforts that improve operational resilience, transparency, and consistency across the platform

  • Coaching and influencing fund assurance professionals through technical leadership, assurance expertise, and continuous improvement mindset, without direct formal line management responsibility

The experience you bring:

  • A minimum of 8 -10 years of progressive fund accounting, fund oversight, assurance, or equivalent experience, including strong exposure to mutual funds and experience supporting ETFs and/or alternative or complex investment products

  • Advanced understanding of accounting, operational, risk, and control requirements across diverse fund structures, strategies, and service delivery models

  • Strong technical expertise in NAV calculation, pricing, reconciliations, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and oversight of third-party administration environments

  • Demonstrated experience supporting audits, SOX controls, assurance reviews, and regulatory examinations, including matters involving complex or non-standard investment structures

  • Proven ability to independently assess and resolve high-complexity, high-risk accounting or control issues with sound judgment and clear decision-making

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify themes, assess root causes, and translate findings into practical process or control improvements

  • Advanced proficiency with fund accounting systems, data tools, and reporting platforms, with experience leveraging technology, automation, and analytics to enhance oversight and operating efficiency

  • Experience leading or influencing innovation, process modernization, or technology-enabled transformation initiatives within fund accounting, operations, or assurance environments

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; CPA, CFA, or equivalent certification strongly preferred
