Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson’s Mission:

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson (BGCC) offers our young people a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves, dedicated adult mentors who respect and listen to them, and outcome-based programs that empower youth to become lifelong learners.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Development Coordinator supports the Development & Marketing team in achieving the organization's annual fundraising goals through multiple revenue streams. This position facilitates marketing and social media initiatives, coordinates community partnerships and volunteer programs, supports fundraising campaigns and special events, and assists with donor stewardship and CRM administration. Working under the supervision of the Development Manager, this position serves as the primary coordinator for community engagement and fundraising operations while ensuring a high level of professionalism, collaboration, and customer service with donors, volunteers, sponsors, community partners, vendors, and staff.


KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

1.  Marketing & Communications (30%)

· Coordinate and execute the organization’s social media content calendar across all digital platforms.

· Capture and edit engaging content highlighting BGCC programs, member success stories, fundraising campaigns, volunteer opportunities, and community partnerships.

· Prepare digital and print marketing materials (fliers, annual report, sponsorship decks, etc.) consistent with BGCC branding standards.

· Coordinate email marketing and e-newsletters that support fundraising and community engagement initiatives.

· Research, design, order, and distribute branded merchandise and promotional materials in alignment with marketing objectives.

· Maintain website and event landing pages.

· Monitor marketing analytics and prepare monthly engagement reports.


2.  Community Partnership & Volunteer Engagement (30%) 

Community Partnership

· Cultivate and maintain relationships with local businesses, nonprofit organizations, civic groups, and community organizations to increase awareness of BGCC programs and services.

· Coordinate community outreach activities that strengthen organizational visibility and engagement.

· Identify and coordinate opportunities for in-kind donations and community collaborations.

· Represent BGCC at community networking events, meetings, and outreach activities as assigned.

Volunteer Engagement

· Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and recognition activities for volunteers and interns.

· Maintain volunteer records and background documentation.

· Coordinate volunteer assignments for programs, administrative projects, fundraising events, and community activities.

· Support volunteer appreciation and recognition initiatives.


3.  Fundraising Operations & Special Events (25%)

· Leverage event management software (GiveSmart) to successfully coordinate logistics for fundraising and community events, including, but not limited to, timelines, registration, guest lists, seating charts, vendor communication, and volunteer assignments.

· Solicit auction items and in-kind donations and coordinate procurement and distribution.

· Assist with fundraising campaign implementation, direct mail appeals, digital fundraising efforts, and donor communications.

· Support post-event reporting and donor follow-up activities.


4.  Donor Stewardship & CRM Support (10%)

· Maintain donor and community partner records in the CRM (DonorPerfect).

· Record donor interactions, stewardship activities, and relationship notes.

· Prepare donor acknowledgement letters and stewardship communications.

· Coordinate donor recognition and appreciation activities.

· Assist with mailing lists, reports, and campaign tracking.


5.  Alumni Engagement (5%)

· Support the Club Alumni Program through outreach and communications.

· Coordinate alumni engagement opportunities that strengthen long-term donor and volunteer pipelines.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Update and maintain SOPs.

· Participate in special programs and events as required.

· Perform additional duties as assigned to support organization’s mission and growth.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related fields and a minimum of 2 years of specific experience in fundraising and donor management, including planning and executing fundraising campaigns and events.

· Experience with graphic design software for creating marketing materials and managing social media content visually. Samples of design work will be required for final interview.

· Proficiency with operating an SLR camera, working knowledge of photography and filming techniques and experience with photo and video editing software.

· Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Canva and a general comfort level with technology, including web sites and social networking.

· Experience in database management, or other fundraising/CRM system is required.

· Advanced verbal and written communication skills for crafting compelling outreach and marketing materials.

· Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners.

· Positive, youth-focused individual with demonstrated ability to take initiative in a fast-paced environment as a collaborative team member is a must.

· Excellent time management and organization skills.

· Bilingual is a plus.

· Ability to consistently work a twelve-month position, including evening and weekend work as required.

· Must have reliable transportation to all work-related activities and a valid California State Driver’s License.


ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Tasks are regularly performed with moderate exposure to environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, and temperature and noise extremes.


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of standing for long periods of time, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (25lbs).
