Position Overview
The Data Analyst, Reporting is responsible for delivering accurate financial and business reporting and providing insights that support the needs of clients and internal stakeholders. This role translates stakeholder needs into clear reports, dashboards and recurring deliverables.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain complex financial and non-financial reports and dashboards for client, management and business needs.
- Support improvements to the firm’s reporting capability by assessing and applying appropriate tools and approaches.
- Prepare data from various sources for reporting and analysis in Excel, Power BI and other business intelligence tools.
- Interpret financial and business information to identify trends, risks and relevant insights for stakeholders.
- Translate stakeholder objectives, measures and requirements into clear and accurate reporting deliverables.
- Validate and reconcile reports, dashboards and underlying data, resolving discrepancies before distribution.
- Prepare client reporting packages, including quarterly and annual presentations, financial templates and ad hoc information.
- Develop matter management reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Advise lawyers and Business Services professionals on reporting requirements, deliverables and interpretation.
- Provide reporting and analytical coverage during absences, peak periods and changing business needs.
- Maintain documentation for data sources, reporting requirements, calculations and processes.
- Review reports, dashboards and supporting analysis prepared by other Analysts for accuracy, completeness and appropriate interpretation.
- Provide financial data, reporting and analytical support for projects and firm initiatives.
Attributes & Experience
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent experience, is essential.
- 3 to 5 years of related experience, preferably within a professional services firm.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, with expert knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, is required.
- Working knowledge of SQL and Power Query in Excel is required. Experience with Power BI Desktop, MDX, and/or DAX would be an asset.
- Experience in extracting data from a complex accounting system is required. Experience with 3E would be an asset.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly grasp complex assignments; the aptitude to analyze a variety of considerations, determine what’s important, and assess possible courses of action.
- Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and deliver within tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong client service orientation combined with the ability to manage multiple client needs at the same time.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders of the firm.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong aptitude for utilizing technology and continuous process improvement.
- Sound judgment including the ability to deal with confidential information with utmost discretion.
- Exceptional attention to detail.

Hybrid
This position is part of our hybrid work model with 3 days in the office per week. As part of our onboarding, new hires are required to be in the office more often for the first few months of employment to ensure they receive the requisite cross training.
