COMPANY PROFILE

CodeAI is an education innovation nonprofit dedicated to the vision that every student in every school has the opportunity to learn about artificial intelligence (AI) and computer science (CS) as part of their core K-12 education. We increase participation in AI+CS education by reaching students of all backgrounds where they are — at their skill level, in their schools, and in ways that inspire them to keep learning, with a focus on increasing participation by young women and students from other underrepresented groups. The leading provider of K-12 AI+CS education curriculum across the globe, CodeAI also organizes the annual Hour of AI campaign, building on the legacy of the Hour of Code, which has engaged more than 15% of all students in the world!

A unifying approach in a divided world

CodeAI's global role in the K-12 computer science movement is only possible because we use a unifying approach across diverse and often divided stakeholders. At a time of increasing polarization, the idea of increasing opportunity for students unites people from across the political spectrum. CodeAI's team members, students, teachers, and supporters have diverse and diverging view points, and they are all welcome in our mission. Read more

JOB SUMMARY

CodeAI is looking for a Major Gifts Officer to build a net-new pipeline of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individual donors and turn those relationships into transformational philanthropic partnerships. Students are already using AI. The question is whether they understand it. Your work funds the digital fluency that lets them understand, direct, question, and create with the technology shaping their lives.

This is a from-scratch prospecting and origination role. You will identify, qualify, cultivate, and independently close new HNW and UHNW donor relationships rather than inheriting a portfolio or working inbound interest. You will own roughly $3M+ in annual fundraising outcomes, with a focus on transformational and multi-year commitments, and you will build the practices that make major giving repeatable at CodeAI.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will:

  • Build a net-new donor pipeline: Identify and develop HNW and UHNW prospects through research, wealth screening, referrals, executive and board networks, events, and direct outreach.
  • Own the full fundraising cycle: Lead prospects from qualification and discovery through cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, and close, with a focus on transformational and multi-year commitments.
  • Deliver revenue outcomes: Own approximately $3M+ in annual fundraising, maintaining pipeline coverage and accurately forecasting progress, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop cultivation strategies: Create tailored approaches for priority prospects that connect their philanthropic interests to CodeAI's mission, programs, and funding priorities.
  • Partner with executive leadership: Work with the CEO, executives, and board members to open doors and strategically engage leadership in advancing high-potential opportunities.
  • Use events to build and convert pipeline: Design donor experiences that surface new prospects and move existing ones forward.
  • Create compelling donor communications: Develop proposals, pitches, and presentations that connect donor interests to CodeAI's vision and impact.
  • Build scalable prospecting practices: Create repeatable approaches to identification, outreach, qualification, cultivation, and conversion that strengthen CodeAI's major-giving capability.
  • Manage and communicate the pipeline: Maintain accurate prospect and opportunity records in Salesforce, and work across CodeAI to advance opportunities and ensure clean gift processing and stewardship handoffs.

As a secondary focus, you may also identify and cultivate net-new foundation and corporate funding opportunities as they arise.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

We seek candidates who have:

  • 8+ years of frontline fundraising experience, with significant time in major individual giving and engaging HNW and UHNW individuals.
  • A demonstrated track record of building a major-donor portfolio from the ground up, without relying primarily on an inherited book of business or warm leads.
  • Proven success independently originating, cultivating, and closing six- and seven-figure transformational gifts and multi-year commitments across the full major-gift cycle.
  • Experience owning significant fundraising goals and managing a pipeline capable of producing multi-million-dollar annual revenue, with strong forecasting discipline and experience in Salesforce or a similar CRM.
  • Experience partnering with CEOs, executives, and board members to advance high-value donor relationships.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, storytelling, and proposal-development skills, with the judgment and discretion required to engage sophisticated philanthropic investors.
  • A demonstrated ability to operate independently, create opportunity, and deliver results in an ambiguous, high-accountability environment.
  • A deep passion for CodeAI's mission and willingness to travel up to 20% to engage donors and prospects.

We prefer candidates who also have:

  • Experience fundraising in education, technology, AI, or another mission-driven environment.
  • Experience using events and high-touch experiences to originate and cultivate major-donor relationships.
  • Experience developing scalable prospecting and major-giving practices.

In addition, candidates must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Work within the continental United States
  • Pass a pre-employment background check
  • Be willing to travel up to 20%
