Senior Registered Respiratory Therapist will be trained and scheduled to a mix of shifts in Children’s Hospital with Charge and Flight duties.

Flight Respiratory Therapists (RTs) participate in neonatal and pediatric transport for patients less than three years of age, and older patients as determined by their clinical condition. Working collaboratively with Flight Nurses, Flight Paramedics, and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Flight RTs assess, stabilize, and manage patients to ensure safe transport to the receiving facility.
Flight RTs adhere to program policies and provide care within Medical Director-approved protocols. All flight program personnel are expected to demonstrate strong interdisciplinary teamwork, critical thinking, and clinical problem-solving skills to effectively manage complex patient conditions. Successful team members possess excellent communication skills, adaptability in dynamic and changing environments, and a steadfast commitment to maintaining the safety standards of the flight program.
Qualifications
3 years of experience in Pediatric and Neonatal intensive care
A degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited respiratory care program is required; minimum associate degree or the equivalent as defined by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
Flight Respiratory Therapists must maintain a weight of 240 pounds or less when fully dressed in uniform.
Advanced certification of NPS or C-NPT required within 2 years of hire into Flight RT role.
Respiratory Therapists must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all procedures, indications, contraindications and hazards involved in respiratory care, as well as knowledge of equipment utilized in their department. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate the ability and knowledge required to utilize computers for patent documentation and data gathering for quality care. Senior Therapists must possess excellent communication skills and be able to work independently in a variety of environments. Senior Therapist must successfully complete additional training and competency validation in procedures that is in addition to the Respiratory Therapy role.
Must have current Respiratory Therapy licensure in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position. Must have Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials as attained through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and maintain active status according to NBRC credentialing requirements. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. Must obtain site specific specialty credential(s) such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), etc.
