Job Overview
Aspiration International Secondary School is seeking an experienced and passionate MYP Coordinator to lead the effective implementation and continuous development of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) within our Secondary School.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Secondary, teachers, and School Leadership Team to ensure that the MYP is implemented consistently and effectively, while supporting curriculum development, assessment practices, teacher development, and IB programme requirements.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the IB MYP and a genuine commitment to inquiry-based, student-centred, and holistic education.

Key Responsibilities:
IB Leadership:
  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of the IB MYP across the Secondary School.
  • Ensure alignment with relevant IB Standards and Practices.
  • Act as a key point of contact for MYP-related matters within the School.
  • Coordinate IB programme development, evaluation, and authorisation requirements.
  • Maintain relevant MYP documentation and records.
Curriculum Development:
  • Lead MYP curriculum planning and development across subject areas.
  • Coordinate curriculum mapping and ensure appropriate vertical and horizontal articulation.
  • Support effective interdisciplinary learning and collaboration between subject areas.
  • Review and support the development of MYP unit planners.
  • Ensure curriculum planning reflects the principles and requirements of the MYP.
Assessment:
  • Monitor the implementation of MYP assessment practices.
  • Ensure teachers understand and apply MYP assessment criteria appropriately.
  • Support assessment standardisation and moderation.
  • Monitor student achievement and academic data.
  • Support effective student reporting and communication of progress.
Teacher Support & Development:
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers in implementing the MYP.
  • Support teachers with curriculum planning, assessment, inquiry-based learning, and interdisciplinary approaches.
  • Facilitate MYP-related professional development and sharing of best practices.
  • Identify areas where teachers require additional support or development.
  • Promote collaboration and reflective practice among teaching staff.
Student Development:
  • Promote the development of IB Learner Profile attributes.
  • Support the development of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills.
  • Encourage student agency, inquiry, reflection, and independent learning.
  • Support initiatives that promote holistic student development.
Quality Assurance:
  • Monitor the quality and consistency of MYP implementation.
  • Conduct and support programme reviews and quality assurance activities.
  • Analyse academic and programme data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with IB MYP requirements and school policies.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives relating to the MYP.
Parent & Community Engagement:
  • Conduct MYP-related parent information sessions and workshops.
  • Communicate the structure, expectations, and principles of the MYP to parents and the wider school community.
  • Support positive engagement between the School, parents, and the wider community.
School Development & Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the Head of Secondary and subject leaders on academic development.
  • Contribute to the School Improvement Plan and wider school development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with teachers and academic leaders to strengthen teaching and learning.
  • Participate in school events, meetings, professional development, and other school-wide initiatives.

Job Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education, the relevant subject area, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience, preferably within an international school environment.
  • IB Experience: Strong experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is highly preferred. Previous experience as an MYP Coordinator or similar IB leadership role is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of MYP curriculum planning, assessment, and programme implementation.
  • Knowledge of IB Standards and Practices and MYP principles.
  • Strong curriculum development, assessment, and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to coach, support, and collaborate with teachers.
  • Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Strong commitment to inquiry-based, student-centred, and holistic education.
  • Applicants must be residing in and legally eligible to work in Malaysia.
