General Job Description
Dogwood Industries is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator at our Factory in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Dogwood Industries manufactures innovative prefabricated steel structures for industrial use. The core mission of the CNC Machine Operator is to operate a CNC robotic plasma cutting structural fabrication system. The CNC Machine (PythonX) processes steel beams, channel, and square/rectangular tubes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Reads shop drawings to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements
- Safely uses material handling equipment to move steel to and from the processing area
- Possesses knowledge of PythonX including power button and all switches
- Secures work pieces and operates stops and guides for proper alignment
- Depresses buttons, toggles, and starts machining operation
- Observes numerical displays on control panel and compares with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speeds of machining cuts
- Turns dials and switches to correct machine performance
- Inspects first-run piece and spot-checks succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications and follows QC procedures
- Studies job packet and organizes materials for next run to shorten changeover time
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- 1+ year of experience as a CNC Machine Operator
- High school diploma, general education degree or vocational degree
- Experience in an industrial setting
- Proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Must be dependable, trustworthy, possess a positive attitude, and be willing to work independently or in a team environment
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that may include extended work hours and occasional weekends
- Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull and push material and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 50 pounds of weight throughout assigned workday if required. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors. This position requires physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities in a primarily production environment. The work environment characteristics here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
Compensation
$28.00 - $40.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
