Hiring Range

$30.60 - $42.08/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
Overview
The Registered Dietitian will evaluate and document the nutritional needs of the residents within specified timeframes as required to meet state and federal requirements and will work closely with the interdisciplinary care team to develop and adjust plans of care to meet the needs of the resident. Particular focus will be to address weight status, laboratory values, skin integrity, oral nutritional status and other factors affecting nutritional status and/or nutritional risk. Clinical responsibilities include nutritional assessments, interventions, MDS process support/completion, attending care plan meetings, daily communication meetings and family meetings. Food Service/Dining Services support will be provided through food safety and sanitation oversight, approval of menus/menu changes, resident rounding to obtain preferences, concerns and nutritional needs and communicate with the Food/Dining Services team. Support orientation and onboarding processes as needed for new team members.

What you will do
  • Provide accurate and timely nutritional assessment, documentation, development of plan of care and monitoring to meet regulatory standards and requirements applicable to food services and quality of care
  • Provide timely assessment and development of plan of care for high risk residents with tube feedings, skin breakdown, significant weight change, dialysis or other factors affecting nutritional status
  • Attend and contribute to weekly plan of care meetings and other meetings as requested/required by the RHS LHARS team
  • Ensure oversight and adherence to safe food storage and handling protocols set forth by the facility, department, state and regulatory agencies. Actively participate in Safety Meetings, Morning Huddles, and other clinical and non-clinical meetings where Dietitian presence is necessary.
  • Understands and is sensitive to the needs of our senior and other special needs populations throughout the campus and community
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to fulfill the Clinical Dietitian core role in supporting the MD and clinical staff in the provision of resident care to include, collaboration with physicians to provide for the specialized needs of the resident. Capable of recognizing and responding to variances in resident care/condition, to include notification of the Physician and team of factors that will effect their care. Ensure that information shared with physicians is timely and accurate for coordination of care.
  • Review menus for adequacy and approve changes/substitutions to ensure nutritional adequacy
  • Provide support to the Food/Dining Services department through new team member onboarding and orientation, in-services for clinically related topics, infection control and/or food safety and sanitation
  • Complete and maintain monthly audits or records requested as part of the QAPI (Quality Assurance/Process Improvement) process

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelors Degree, with Commission on Dietetic Registration if registered before 12/31/2023 (Required) or
  • Masters Degree, with Commission on Dietetic Registration if registered after 12/31/2023 (Required)

Experience
  • 1 year Healthcare Nutrition/Dietetics (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Dietician (RD) - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) (Required)
  • Food Handlers Card (FH) - VA State - ANSI-approved Food Handlers certificate program (Required)
