Job Description:
Job Title: Forecasting & Replenishment Intern (Summer 2027)
Department: Procurement
FLSA: Hourly
Revision Date: 08/2026
About Hy-Vee
At Hy-Vee, we believe the shortest distance between two people is a smile. We're seeking professionals who bring proven skills, a desire to grow, and a commitment to work together in building a company that strives to make our customers' lives easier, healthier and happier.
The Role and Why It's Important
Hy-Vee is implementing a new enterprise forecasting and replenishment platform across our distribution network and retail stores, and we are hiring two Forecasting and Replenishment Interns to support the rollout in Summer 2027. One position focuses on distribution center replenishment and the other focuses on store replenishment; assignment is determined during the selection process. In this role, you will validate the data behind the new system, support the users who rely on it, and help resolve the issues that surface before and after go-live.
The position is located at the West Des Moines corporate office and in our test stores in the Des Moines area. The timeframe is approximately May 17 through August 13, 2027, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. This internship is part of the Hy-Vee summer internship program, which includes tours of Hy-Vee's facilities, organized networking opportunities, and a final presentation to Hy-Vee leadership.
If you are analytical, detail-oriented, and energized by digging into data to find the root cause of a problem, this internship will give you real ownership on a project that touches every Hy-Vee store.
What You'll Do
Validate master data by reconciling item, vendor, and promotion data between systems; build exception reports that surface missing or incorrect values; investigate defects and partner with data owners to resolve them.
Manage feedback and user-reported issues by triaging, categorizing, and routing them to the proper team for resolution.
Build training materials, including role-based quick reference guides, job aids, and screen walkthroughs, and maintain a living FAQ based on real user questions and feedback.
Participate in pre-go-live testing and provide user support after go-live, documenting results and issues.
Investigate forecast exceptions by identifying items with anomalous forecast behavior, researching the root cause of the discrepancy, and working with the forecasting team to resolve the issue.
Present findings and project outcomes to Hy-Vee leadership at the conclusion of the internship.
Maintain the confidentiality of company financial and operational information encountered in the course of the internship.
Report to work when scheduled and on time.

Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well with cross-functional teams comprised of members from all levels of the organization.
Preferred: prior internship or work experience in retail grocery or supply chain, particularly experience reviewing and placing orders.
