Job Description:
Installation Design Manager
About the Role
Installation Design Manager contributes to Hitachi’s responsibility to plan, manage and carry out installations in a railway environment, including site readiness, installation approvals, SAT support and handover to system integration and operation. Its specific contribution is to lead installation design, routeing/access solutions, shop-drawing maturity and site-ready design packages.
Key Responsibilities
Lead installation design packages including equipment locations, cable routes, mounting details, cabinet layouts, earthing/bonding interfaces and materials lists.
Run constructability reviews with Engineering, Implementation, HSE, Quality, suppliers, civil works and customer site representatives.
Ensure installation drawings and work packs are approved, configuration-controlled and aligned with procurement and access plans.
Resolve clashes, site survey findings, technical queries and field-change needs through controlled design processes.
Support red-line/as-built capture and installation acceptance evidence.
Apply the Hitachi Code of Conduct in role-specific decisions, including ethical escalation, anti-bribery discipline, confidentiality, data protection, fair supplier/customer conduct and transparent records.
Lead installation design, routeing/access solutions, shop-drawing maturity and site-ready design packages.
Owns installation design coordination and constructability decisions inside approved scope.
Escalates clashes affecting access, sequence or interface readiness.
Key Interfaces
Engineering Manager, Solution Engineering Manager, Implementation Manager, Construction Manager and Site Manager.
BIM/CAD Operator, Work Package Leaders, HSE, Quality, Configuration & Defect Manager and suppliers.
Customer site/engineering representatives and civil works interface owners.
Design reviews.
Installation planning workshops.
Authority & Accountability
Accountable for installation design maturity and constructability of assigned packages.
Authorised to request site data, reject incomplete installation inputs and recommend design corrections before work release.
Field changes require configuration/change approval before incorporation.
Mandate
Ensure designs can be installed safely, efficiently and in a way that supports testing, maintenance and handover.
Skills & Experience
Installation design management experience in rail stations, telecoms, electrical, controls or infrastructure Projects.
Strong constructability, CAD/BIM, cable routing, access and installation-quality record understanding.
Ability to bridge engineering intent and site reality.
Resilience and resistance to stress during site discoveries, access constraints and late design changes.
Practical problem-solving and configuration discipline.
More than 5–7 years in installation design/constructability for brownfield rail or similar infrastructure.
