The Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) program is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead Test Equipment development and sustainment activities in an onsite role based in Tucson, Arizona.  The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Office of Chief Engineer and discipline leads to deliver critical Test Equipment capability on schedule and driving test optimization.

This position is 100% onsite in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure technical integrity and engineering execution across the Test Equipment (TE) portfolio to meet and/or exceed cost, schedule, and technical requirements.

  • Lead the Test Equipment architecture of the SSBU products.

  • Influence the architecture of the system, establishing processes, and align Raytheon program leadership, Office the of Chief Engineer, and multiple CPTs / IPTs.

  • Provide guidance, coaching and technical leadership to IPTLs within the product portfolio to ensure effective communications and program execution of the SSBU TE portfolio.

  • Accountable to the SSBU Chief Engineer for the technical execution of all TE projects utilized by the programs.

  • Provide TE program and process oversight to the portfolio programs through the planning and leadership of project design reviews and peer reviews, including program briefings to internal and external customers.

  • Technical authority for all TE and chairs the TE CCB/SCCB/FRACAS.

  • Responsible for reviewing/approving proposals; reviewing each IPTs EACs; utilization of EVMS techniques (EACs, LREs, IMS) to assess program execution.

  • Interface with Portfolio Senior Leadership team to communicate TE contracted program execution, status, mitigation to barriers and alignment to overall portfolio products goals and needs.

  • Oversee and helps coordinate/prioritize TE staffing needs.

  • Collaborates with the SBU and SSBU Test Architects (TA) to execute the test strategy and vision for the program.

  • Drive Test Optimization through TE projects.


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Test System Design; Hardware or Software development spanning multiple disciplines (Power, RF, Analog, Digital); Effector production.

  • Experience in Engineering Development Processes and RLPM Gate Reviews.

  • Experience with project/program execution.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.

  • Experience communicating and collaborating at the Vice-President level.

  • Experience with electrical hardware and software development process.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Qualifications We Prefer

  • Prior SSBU program experience.

  • Experience with RF systems.

  • Test‑driven, multidisciplinary capability management experience.

  • Experience leading teams using Agile methods.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with program offices, cross-functional teams, and internal/external customers.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present analytical and performance results to executive and functional leadership.

  • Experience in large program execution.

  • Raytheon Chief Engineer Level 4 or above.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
