This is a non-permanent position that will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.
Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in a 12-month period.
The typical number of hours for this position will not exceed 24 hours/week.

Candidates selected for hire must successfully pass the following:
• AZDPS/FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Check
• Fleet Driver Certification within 90 days
• 15-Passenger Van Certification within 90 days
• Ability to obtain a CPR/First-Aid Certification within 90 days

ABOUT THIS JOB

Position Specific Summary

The Sports Office Worker position at the City of Tucson’s Parks and Recreation department provides customer service to the public and youth & adult sports organizations that have inquiries about sports field rentals, park conditions, and sports programming. The position will create and modify field rental permits and assist the Recreation Program Coordinators with internal sports programming tasks that may include organizing materials for meetings, updating league standings, and delivering supplies & equipment to various locations.

Work is performed under the supervision of a Recreation Program Coordinator. This position does not supervise.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Public inquiries by phone, email and in person; sports programming, field availability and general information
  • Process and modify sports field/facility reservations and permits; review accuracy and assist with conflicts
  • Support leagues, tournaments, clinics, meetings, schedules and event logistics
  • Data entry, registrations, records, reports, correspondence and routine office functions
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Some exposure to light physical or environmental conditions (noise, dust, weather, etc.).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
6 months Post-High School

Work Experience:
One (1) year of relevant experience

License/Certifications
Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License - Arizona Department of
Transportation - Motor Vehicle DivisionValid and unrestricted Arizona Class D
Driver License - Arizona Department of Transportation - Motor Vehicle Division

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Six (6) months of customer service experience involving direct interaction with the public, providing information, resolving inquires, and delivering quality customer service.

Six (6) months of Microsoft Office experience

Six (6) months of Recreation Management software experience
