As Teamcenter evolves into the authoritative system of record for product definition, engineering change, release governance and lifecycle traceability, robust management of requirements, verification and validation processes is critical to ensuring product quality, compliance and delivery confidence.
The Principal / Associate Principal Engineer - Requirements, Verification & Validation is responsible for defining, governing and continuously improving Dyson's requirements management and verification & validation capabilities.
The role acts as Dyson's subject matter expert and capability owner for requirements traceability, verification planning, validation governance and associated engineering lifecycle processes. Working closely with Engineering functions, RDD IT, PLM Product Ownership and Engineering Process Owners, the role ensures Dyson's engineering lifecycle processes remain effective, scalable and aligned to future digital thread ambitions.
About the role
Capability Ownership & Governance
Own the strategic direction, governance and continuous improvement of Dyson's Requirements Management and Verification & Validation capabilities.
Define, maintain and govern associated processes, standards, methods and operating procedures.
Ensure capability development aligns with Dyson's Product Development strategy, engineering governance requirements and PLM roadmap.
Establish capability maturity measures and continuous improvement plans while acting as the recognised subject matter expert for Requirements and V&V across Product Development.
Process Excellence & Standardisation
Drive standardisation, simplification and optimisation of requirements and V&V processes across Business Units and functions.
Promote adoption of industry best practices, systems engineering principles, requirements-driven development and model-based approaches across Product Development.
Define process performance measures and monitor capability effectiveness.
Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, quality and traceability through enhanced process design.
Support organisational compliance with defined engineering lifecycle practices.
Digital Thread & PLM Integration
Collaborate with the PLM Business Product Owner to ensure Teamcenter and connected platforms effectively support requirements and V&V processes.
Define business requirements supporting future digital thread capabilities, requirements traceability and verification evidence management.
Support development of integrated engineering lifecycle workflows linking requirements, design, verification, validation, release and traceability activities.
Ensure process requirements are appropriately represented within PLM transformation initiatives.
Provide subject matter expertise supporting future capability roadmaps and platform enhancements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Capability Development
Build strong partnerships across NPI, Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, RDD IT and Product Development teams.
Facilitate governance forums, working groups and capability reviews.
Develop guidance, supporting materials and best practice recommendations.
Support organisational adoption of new processes, tools and ways of working.
Contribute to training, communications and capability development activities associated with process transformation initiatives.
Assurance, Risk & Continuous Improvement
Monitor process adoption, compliance and effectiveness across Product Development.
Identify capability risks, gaps and opportunities for improvement.
Support audits, assessments and governance reviews where required.
Use data, stakeholder feedback and operational experience to drive capability enhancement.
Promote a culture of quality, traceability and evidence-based engineering decision making.
About you
Professional experience
Significant experience in Requirements Management, Systems Engineering, Verification & Validation or related engineering disciplines.
Experience defining, implementing or improving engineering lifecycle processes within a complex product development environment.
Strong understanding of requirements traceability, verification planning, validation methodologies and engineering governance practices.
Experience working with PLM, requirements management, testing or engineering lifecycle platforms.
Experience supporting engineering transformation initiatives and facilitating collaboration across engineering, quality and technology functions.
Experience translating complex business requirements into structured engineering processes and practical solutions.
Understanding of digital thread, systems engineering and Product Lifecycle Management principles.
