About the Position

The Technical Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering training programs that build both technical competencies and professional skills across the MHE service technician team. This role provides instruction on essential professional and interpersonal skills while also delivering comprehensive hands-on technical training across material handling equipment systems, components, technologies, and operational procedures. The Technical Trainer designs curriculum, facilitates classroom and field-based learning, assesses technician proficiency, and adapts training approaches to meet evolving equipment technologies and business requirements. This position plays a critical role in developing a skilled, confident, and customer-focused service workforce.

Functions

  • Assist in preparing technical training programs and deliver training modules to MHE Service technicians.
  • Plan and coordinate training schedules that balance business operational needs, technician availability, equipment access, and optimal learning group sizes
  • Troubleshoot Equipment issues/concerns over the phone and make site or shop visits to help Service Technicians as needed.
  • Recommend and assist in the development of curriculum using instructional design and adult learning principles for various delivery options, such as eLearning, classroom training, and blended learning.
  • Continuously enhance technical instructional delivery and presentation skills.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of course content throughout a course life cycle.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training modules, workshops, etc. and suggest changes as needed to improve future results.
  • Stay current with manufacturer technical bulletins, service updates, software revisions, and new product introductions across multiple equipment brands
  • Collect and analyze participant feedback through surveys, assessments, and post-training interviews to measure satisfaction and perceived value
  • Maintain expert-level proficiency in company business systems including work order management platforms, learning management systems (LMS), timekeeping software, asset tracking tools, and technician productivity applications
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or tech school graduate required.
  • Minimum two years of experience in technical training and learning principles; preferably prior experience with material handling or similar equipment.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience with writing and/or maintaining documentation such as user manuals and reference guides.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on multiple types of equipment.
  • Able to read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics.

Travel Requirements

  • This position is expected to travel approximately 50% - 75%.
