For more than 65 years, A&K Railroad Materials has been a trusted leader in supplying new and used railroad track materials across North America. Our Kansas City, KS manufacturing facility produces specialized trackwork products that support critical railroad infrastructure.
We're looking for a Production Order Specialist to serve as the connection between Engineering, Planning, and Production. You'll make sure production orders are accurate, complete, and ready for the shop before manufacturing begins.
What You'll Do
You'll work with engineering and manufacturing information every day, including:
- Create, review, and process production orders in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)
- Review engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and manufacturing routes
- Verify items, quantities, revisions, operations, and supporting documentation
- Identify discrepancies and work with Engineering to resolve issues
- Prepare and release production documentation to the shop
- Coordinate with Planning and Production to ensure orders are ready for manufacturing
- Maintain accurate production records and support quality requirements
Requirements
This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
We're looking for someone with:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to work accurately with detailed manufacturing information
- Technical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Manufacturing, engineering support, production control, or planning experience preferred
- Experience with D365, ERP systems, BOMs, production orders, or work orders preferred
- Experience in steel fabrication, machining, welding, railroad, or heavy manufacturing is a plus
Manufacturing experience is preferred, but we're willing to train the right person with strong technical aptitude and attention to detail.
