JOB PROFILE 

 BRIEF DESCRIPTION 

A career in our Investigations and Intelligence practice, within Forensic Accounting services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients understand where they might have vulnerabilities and develop solutions to manage the risks involved. We prevent, respond to and remediate a wide range of business threats, risks and complex issues. Our team helps organisations gain clarity and confidence in fraud investigations by offering our clients and their counsel strategic advice and advanced forensic technology. You’ll help to collect and analyse evidence, locate witnesses, conduct interviews, perform computer forensics, and gather intelligence. 

DESCRIPTION 

  • Independently scope, plan and execute forensic investigations, fraud prevention projects, integrity due diligence reviews and other forensic assignments.  

  • Investigate economic crime matters, including allegations of fraud, corruption, procurement irregularities, conflicts of interest, misconduct and other irregularities.  

  • Identify key issues, formulate investigation hypotheses, develop investigation procedures and identify relevant evidence.  

  • Perform and oversee the acquisition, processing and analysis of financial and non-financial information using appropriate forensic technology and data analytics tools.  

  • Conduct or support investigative interviews, including preparing interview plans, assessing evidence and documenting outcomes.  

  • Synthesize evidence and draft clear, evidence-based forensic reports and appendices, with a focus on factual accuracy, evidence linkage and defensible conclusions.  

  • Oversee document management, working papers, evidence handling and review processes supporting analyses performed.  

  • Supervise, mentor and develop junior team members, including overseeing fieldwork execution and building forensic capability within the team.  

  • Manage client relationships, understand client needs, deliver value-added forensic services and identify opportunities to contribute to proposals and business development.  

  • Independently manage assignment timelines, budgets, commercial aspects, client expectations and quality deliverables.  

  • Ensure adherence to assignment mandates and compliance with the firm’s risk management policies and procedures.  

  • Exercise sound professional judgement in sensitive and high-risk matters while maintaining strict confidentiality and the highest professional standards.  

  • Brief senior stakeholders clearly and professionally on investigation progress, findings, risks and recommended next steps.  

  • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to forensic investigations as a long-term career, with curiosity, persistence, ethical courage and passion for high-quality investigative work. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

  • CA - qualified or 

  • BCom Accounting, BCom Forensic Accounting (Hons), LLB relevant Postgraduate  

  • CFE or FP/SA preferable. 

 

 EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in forensic investigations, forensic accounting, fraud risk management, litigation support, internal investigations, regulatory investigations, or related assignments. 

  • At least 2–3 years’ experience managing forensic assignments, including planning, fieldwork, evidence review, reporting, client engagement, budgets and timelines. 

  • Experience investigating allegations of fraud, corruption, bribery, procurement irregularities, conflicts of interest, financial misconduct, asset misappropriation and/or other economic crime matters. 

  • Good understanding of risks and internal controls 

  • Document management 

  • Accounting/legal/ forensic background 

  • Good working knowledge of the following:  

  • Microsoft (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, 

  • Microsoft Power Bi, Alteryx and/ or other data analysis tools advantageous 

  • Computer hardware and operating systems
