Overview
The Director of Quality and Patient Safety serves as the facility-based quality leader for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, providing strategic oversight for quality outcomes, accreditation, regulatory readiness, patient safety, and performance improvement. This leader partners closely with hospital executives, medical staff, physician leaders, nursing leadership, Infection Prevention, and Risk Management to advance quality outcomes across a complex 525-bed Level I Trauma Center. The Director is responsible for quality improvement programs, event review and root cause analysis, medical staff peer review, accreditation support, and advancing organizational goals related to patient safety, quality performance, and CMS measures.

Experience
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience required.
Minimum of 5 years of clinical management and nursing leadership experience required.
3 years hospital quality leadership experience strongly preferred.
Experience leading quality improvement, accreditation, regulatory readiness, and patient safety initiatives.
Experience with quality event review, root cause analysis, peer review, and performance improvement programs.
Knowledge of CMS requirements, quality reporting, and healthcare regulatory standards.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with physicians, nursing leaders, executives, and multidisciplinary teams.
Experience leading, mentoring, and developing quality professionals.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
