Description
We're seeking a Community Affairs Specialist to support the HD Supply Foundation's mission of strengthening communities and supporting associates through charitable giving, fundraising, and community engagement initiatives. This role will manage key foundation programs, cultivate relationships with nonprofit partners, lead fundraising events, and collaborate across the organization to promote community impact and associate involvement.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience in community affairs, nonprofit organizations, corporate foundations, fundraising, event management, program management, or related fields.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field preferred.
Strong project management and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with nonprofit partners, internal stakeholders, and senior leadership.
Experience planning and executing fundraising events, giving campaigns, or community outreach programs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop compelling stories that highlight community impact.
Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and ownership mindset with a willingness to take projects from concept through execution.
Job Summary

Builds relationships with internal and external stakeholders, coordinates programs and events that strengthen employee engagement, and ensures initiatives align with company values, diversity, and inclusion priorities.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
- Supports the implementation and coordination of community and cultural initiatives that align with organizational goals and values.
- Cultivates and maintains partnerships with nonprofits, civic organizations, educational institutions, and internal stakeholders to advance social and cultural impact.
- Guides and supports Associate Resource Groups to ensure activities foster engagement, inclusion, and alignment with diversity priorities.
- Coordinates and executes volunteer projects, cultural awareness events, and heritage celebrations that enhance employee participation and organizational cohesion.
- Measures and reports on the impact of community and cultural programs, including participation, outcomes, and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Promotes awareness of charitable and cultural programs to increase associate engagement, funding, and support.
- Facilitates workshops, discussions, and events that educate, celebrate, and reinforce cultural competence and inclusivity.
- Partners with internal teams and external organizations to design, implement, and sustain initiatives that strengthen community relations and company culture.
Nature and Scope
- Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
- Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct customers of the process.
- May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support or professional personnel.
Work Environment
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
- No travel required.
Education and Experience
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
