Your Role: HVAC / Refrigerant Maintenance Technician
As an HVAC / Refrigerant Maintenance Technician, you will be part of the Site Utilities team responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of critical utility and HVAC systems that support manufacturing operations. In this role, you will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, support continuous improvement efforts, and collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to maximize equipment reliability and performance.
Your Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance on process and utility chillers, HVAC systems, exhaust fans, laboratory hoods, and related equipment, including seasonal servicing.
Troubleshoot, repair, and improve chiller and HVAC equipment while supporting emergency response during on-call rotations as needed.
Support predictive maintenance initiatives by utilizing technologies such as vibration analysis and eddy current testing to improve equipment reliability.
Partner with operations, engineering, maintenance, and external contractors to coordinate equipment downtime, communicate repair activities, and implement continuous improvements.
Maintain technical knowledge, participate in training and performance development activities, and contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge and supporting fellow technicians.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):
Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree or technical/vocational training in refrigeration or a related field preferred.
Required Experience: Mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial HVAC and chiller systems.
Top Skills: HVAC/chiller maintenance and repair; strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
Current EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification or the ability to obtain certification.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (preferred qualifications):
Associate Degree in Refrigeration, HVAC, or a related technical discipline.
Experience with industrial process chillers, utility systems, and commercial HVAC equipment.
Experience supporting predictive maintenance programs, including vibration analysis and eddy current testing.
Knowledge of continuous improvement practices and equipment reliability initiatives.
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams while maintaining composure in fast-paced or emergency situations.
Additional Information:
Location: Clinton, IN Manufacturing Site
Position supports the entire manufacturing site with primary responsibility for utility and HVAC systems.
This position will initially work four 10-hour shifts (Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday) for approximately six months (duration may vary based on business needs). Following this initial period, the position will transition to a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.
Participation in an on-call rotation and overtime may be required.
