Description
The Aquatics Manager oversees the daily operations, programming, and administration of the Club's three aquatic facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and exceptional experience for members and guests. This position provides leadership for aquatics staff, manages budgets and operational resources, oversees member engagement initiatives, and ensures compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
The Aquatics Manager develops and implements innovative aquatics programs that promote water safety, fitness, wellness, recreation, and member participation while fostering a welcoming, service-oriented environment consistent with the Club's standards.
DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Report directly to the Director of Wellness and support the organization's strategic wellness initiatives.
- Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and programming of three aquatic facilities, ensuring each pool is safe, clean, and fully operational.
- Oversee the swim team, including scheduling practices and meets, coordinating with coaches, and ensuring safe and effective program operations.
- Manage all aspects of aquatic programming, including swim lessons, water fitness classes, lap swimming, recreational swim, and special events.
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate lifeguards, swim instructors, and other aquatics staff.
- Manage all lifeguards and ensure appropriate staffing levels, certifications, and coverage for all pools and aquatic programs.
- Ensure the beach and waterfront areas are clean, safe, well-maintained, and compliant with all organizational policies and safety regulations.
- Maintain pool deck presentation, including lounge chair setup, organization, cleanliness, and overall appearance to provide an exceptional member experience.
- Monitor facility conditions and promptly coordinate maintenance, repairs, and corrective actions for pools, equipment, and surrounding aquatic areas.
- Conduct routine inspections of pools, beach areas, safety equipment, and aquatic facilities to ensure compliance with health, safety, and risk management standards.
- Respond promptly and professionally to member questions, concerns, and service requests while fostering a positive and welcoming environment.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing for extended periods, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and responding quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred.
- Private club experience preferred.
- Current American Red Cross or equivalent certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, and First Aid required.
