About the Company - Birchmont Transport, LLC is a trucking company based out of Reading, PA that is a sister company of Custom Processing Services, Inc. (CPS). The company currently operates 5 tractors and more than 20 trailers and receives support from CPS in accounting, HR, and inventory.
Job Description:
The Local Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of different commodities over various distances and timeframes. Drivers are paid hourly, paid weekly, and operate automatic tractors. This role requires schedule flexibility, strong communication, and a commitment to safety and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Operate company vehicles in compliance with DOT, federal, state, and local regulations
- Maintain accurate electronic logs, hours of service, and documentation using Samsara
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report mechanical or safety issues immediately
- Maintain an accident-free, safety-first driving approach
Transportation & Delivery
- Transport freight on routes of varying lengths and distances
- Operate automatic day cab tractors
- Pull dry van and various tanker trailers
- Secure and handle freight safely; touch freight as required
- Communicate delays, route changes, or issues promptly to dispatch or management
Equipment & Professional Conduct
- Maintain cleanliness and general condition of assigned truck and trailer
- Represent Birchmont Transport professionally at all customer and CPS locations
- Complete all delivery paperwork accurately and on time
- Other duties as needed
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
• Valid CDL Class A
• Minimum 1 year of CDL Class A driving experience
• Tanker endorsement
• Flexible schedule with ability to adapt to business needs
• Weekend availability based on business needs
• Clean driving record and accident-free history
• Ability to meet DOT and company safety standards
• Experience with ELD systems (Samsara preferred)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with supervisors and team members
• Dependable, safety-focused, and customer-oriented
Preferred Qualifications
• OTR driving experience
• Experience operating dry van and tanker trailers
• Knowledge of tanker loading and unloading practices
• Knowledge of step deck securement practices
• Knowledge of safe dump trailer practices
• Experience driving manual trucks
• Hazmat endorsement
• Familiarity with manufacturing or industrial freight
