Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal Flight Sciences Engineer (Level 3) OR Senior Principal Flight Sciences Engineer (Level 4) to join the Vehicle Engineering Center of Technical Excellence.
The Vehicle Engineering (VE) Center of Technical Excellence (CoTE) is positioned to drive robust and efficient vehicle development activities within the Aeronautics Systems (AS) Engineering organization by equipping our teams with the processes, tools, and technical training needed to succeed and grow. Leaders within the VE CoTE team are at the heart of our relentless pursuit of engineering excellence, driving sustained improvement and ensuring that our technical capabilities stay ahead of emerging challenges and opportunities.
The Vehicle Engineering CoTE organization is hiring a Flight Sciences (FS) Engineer with a background in one or more FS discipline areas. The candidate will have a mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or software skillset ideally aligned to a technical background in Mass Properties or another FS discipline, such as Loads & Dynamics, Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC), Vehicle Management Systems (VMS), Aerodynamics, Performance, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Configuration, or Propulsion.
The candidate will perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, and requirements allocation studies to translate customer, product or derived requirements into hardware and software specification requirements. These activities will be conducted in collaboration with Mass Properties engineers and other technical leaders within the FS communities of practice. The candidate will be required to analyze and understand aircraft configurations and flight conditions to develop processes and related tools to characterize system behavior – tools utilized may include solid modeling tools, database tools, and/or custom applications.
