Renewable Properties is seeking a talented Project Manager responsible to lead the construction of our EV fleet depot project pipeline — high-power charging and support infrastructure built for autonomous vehicle (AV) and EV fleet operators — from pre-construction activities through NTP, construction, and commercial operation. The Project Manager will work with various project partners, high-profile AV/EV fleet customers, engineers, lawyers, contractors, vendors, utilities, landowners, investors, and community stakeholders. The ideal candidate is an organized and seasoned project manager with direct experience overseeing the design, permitting, procurement, and construction of EV charging and AV fleet infrastructure projects. The Project Manager must be an innovative thinker, fast learner, collaborative worker, and self-starter with a passion for the renewable energy and mobility industries and have a track record of success thriving in a high-growth environment. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in building projects for Renewable Properties' EV fleet infrastructure business during this exciting time of explosive growth in a changing and impactful industry.
Responsibilities:
• Identify and build relationships with vendors and contractors related to the construction of EV fleet depot and charging infrastructure projects.
• Run robust requests for proposals (RFP’s) with select vendors and contractors to obtain high-quality partners at favorable prices.
• Lead internal and external engineering resources in the optimization of site and construction layouts — including charging bays, vehicle queuing, canopies, and employee support structures — including the solving of technical issues as needed.
• Support customer-facing negotiations and construction updates with exemplary organization and communication skills.
• Negotiate engineering, procurement, and construction contracts with material vendors, contractors, and project partners.
• Manage contractors and vendors through the construction of the project to achieve commercial operation on time and on budget.
• Coordinate utility interconnection and make-ready processes to support high-power EV charging loads.
• Assist in providing information requested by investors to support project financing, and update other project stakeholders through the project management and Salesforce platforms.
• Help establish project-specific budgets and corporate metrics related to construction of projects and managing to those goals.
• Support Project Development and Project Finance teams in developing construction cost estimates and providing constructability review of preliminary designs, interconnection applications, and other project aspects.
• Travel as needed for pre-construction site visits, monitoring construction progress, conferences, and company gatherings.
• Gather market intelligence on the emerging EV fleet infrastructure space and continuously strive to be an industry-leading thinker, applying that insight to improve RP’s systems and processes.
• Manage and coordinate multiple projects and work efforts with other team members in an organized manner.
• Develop new tools and processes for the successful execution of a growing pipeline of EV fleet projects at scale.
Requirements:
• 6+ years of experience in EV charging infrastructure, fleet/EV depot development, power plant, or real estate development, ideally with direct experience delivering EV or AV fleet charging and depot projects.
• Strong civil and electrical construction experience developing projects from dirt to paved lot, including stormwater, underground infrastructure, canopies/structures, and other AHJ requirements.
• Prior experience supporting high-profile EV or AV fleet customers, including their site design standards and data/connectivity requirements.
• Familiarity with high-power DC fast charging/EVSE design and utility make-ready or interconnection processes for large fleet loads.
• Demonstrable experience successfully negotiating transactions.
• Sophisticated understanding and ability to navigate the environmental and utility regulatory environment.
• Experience managing development and construction budgets and schedules.
• Experience developing new processes to improve the flow of work through the business.
• Rigorous attention to detail, work ethic, personal responsibility, work product ownership, and organizational skills.
• Strong business development acumen and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong team player comfortable leading and collaborating with small and diverse teams to develop and build successful projects.
• Eagerness to take on new challenges with the perspective that these are an opportunity to learn and improve.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve time-sensitive issues with precision.
• Driven, resourceful, and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment.
• Energy, real estate, engineering, or business-related Master’s degree is a plus.
