The Director, Revenue Cycle provides day to day strategic leadership and relationship liaison between Consensus MSO and Consensus Medical Group practice. The Director will work collaboratively with peers and practices to ensure the smooth operation of the RCM department while maximizing cash flow and return on behalf of the Medical Group. This person is responsible for applying expert knowledge of the process implementation, training, planning, documentation, and elbow-to-elbow support to ensure quality metrics reflect organizational standards. The Director will be responsible for supporting Senior Leadership in maintaining, improving, processing, and evaluating the billing and collection of accounts receivable for the Medical Group.

Director, Revenue Cycle — Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads all aspects of revenue cycle assuring all functional areas are performing at or above industry benchmarks
  • Promotes optimal use of all revenue cycle information systems
  • Actively seeks out and implements process improvement opportunities
  • Ensures all applicable state and federal laws and regulations are followed
  • Leads and manages staff performance and facilitates appropriate staff training and resources, including outsourced staffing
  • Place high emphasis on developing a consistent and coordinated billing model that can sustain or improve financial performance within an evolving landscape
  • Possess strong leadership skills and demonstrates capability to inspire staff to pursue excellence in goals and productivity, capable of coaching and improving staff in need of professional development. Places high priority on overall team performance
  • Works regularly with other company departments to ensure that practice needs are met in a timely fashion
  • Works with Population Health team to ensure we are satisfying VBC metrics in line with risk contracts as it relates to Revenue Cycle
  • Oversees the optimization efforts in Medical Group practices in conjunction with the Operations team
  • Provides strategic oversight of end-to-end revenue cycle operations, spanning front-end functions (registration, eligibility and benefits verification, prior authorization, patient estimates) and back-end functions (charge capture, coding, claims submission, denial management, AR resolution, and patient collections)
  • Owns the cash posting and reconciliation strategy across the department, ensuring accurate, timely posting practices and strong internal controls over payment and adjustment processes
  • Directs vendor management strategy for outsourced RCM functions, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, performance management, and accountability to SLAs
  • Oversees the patient call center/patient billing support function, setting service standards and ensuring alignment with the overall patient financial experience
  • Establishes and delivers executive-level reporting on revenue cycle performance, financial impact, and operational trends, using data to drive department-wide accountability
  • Drives cross-functional accountability for revenue cycle performance across coding, posting, collections, vendor-managed, and call center functions
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications or Education, Training and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in management
  • Experience working in a physician practice preferred
  • AthenaNet experience preferred
  • Detail oriented
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel

The compensation range for this position is $140,000 annually. Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. 

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data
