Job Title: Production Manager
Department: Operations
Responsible To: Operations Manager
Responsible For: Production Team Leaders, Production Scheduler(s) & Extended Production Team
Role Outline:
To manage the day-to-day and strategic operations of the production area using the Fortive Business System, with responsibility for producing product to defined quality standards at the minimum feasible cost.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for subordinate Managers and extended team’s adherence to all processes within assigned area(s), including contributing to the development and implementation of new processes and to the continual improvement of existing processes.
- Responsible for delivery of revenue, reduction of Past Due Customer Backlog and On Time Delivery of all products shipped from the Norwich facility.
- Trains/facilitates the training of team members to defined standard process and ensures ongoing adherence to the standard.
- Responsible for performance management of defined team, including but not limited to; Performance appraisals, Monthly 1:1 reviews, Disciplinary Investigations, Disciplinary Hearings.
- Responsible for the development of defined team, including but not limited to; Fluke/Fortive supplied training materials, recommendation of external courses, 1:1 coaching/mentoring, Management coaching.
- To recommend appropriate career band status changes and/or salary increases for team members and reviewing/approving recommendations of subordinate managers.
- Uses the Daily Management process to manage team performance, drive improvement, focus and prioritize production support activities.
- Frequently tracks discretionary spend budgets to ensure production operates within assigned budgets wherever possible. Escalates budgetary issues to the Operations Manager where required.
- Responsible for the implementation of FBS (Fortive Business System) within the production area, including getting “buy in” and breadth/depth of understanding from the production employees.
Additional Information:
FBS Activities:
- A portion of time will be spent attending required meetings, 1:1 reviews, and Performance Appraisal reviews as communicated by the Management team. You are expected to take an active role in these events.
- The business will require you to actively participate/lead in continuous improvement events (Kaizens) or other applicable events which will be communicated to you from time to time.
- The business will require you to actively participate in Daily Management meetings to report out achieved results, drive problem solving and manage business expectations.
- To take an active role in the development of their own and teams FBS depth & breadth of knowledge in order to implement improvements in assigned area(s)
Management Role:
- Provides immediate supervision to Production Team Leaders and the Production Planner(s)
- Acts as the 1:1 Manager for production staff (Assembly Operators & Technicians)
- Responds appropriately to team conflict/disagreements using defined company procedures and personal judgement.
- Coaches subordinate managers to ensure consistent management/communication to the entire production team.
Position Scope:
- Receives work assignments that are subject to a significant level of control and review.
- Directs subordinates to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies.
- Has a high level of control to the day-to-day operations within the Production area, receiving strategic direction and general guidance from the Operations Manager.
- Reviews and/or approves discretionary spend within assigned approval limits/budgets.
Interaction:
- Interacts daily with subordinates and/or functional peer groups.
- Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information.
- Frequent interaction with Fluke Norwich Site management.
- Frequent interaction with Fluke HR teams for advice, recruitment, contractual reviews etc
- Ongoing interaction with Fluke worldwide teams to ensure co-operation and escalation of critical issues affecting the production area.
