Overview

The Advisement Associate will guide students throughout their time at Lander College for Women. This role will provide students with an understanding of the college's requirements, and the advisement and registration process. The advisement department is here to ensure that students are on the right track to receiving their degree, and to minimize any confusion regarding the different requirements in the college.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Attend New Student Orientation to advise students on course schedules, choosing majors, classes, and redirect questions to department chairs.
  • Advise students on course schedules and assist with registration issues (including when locked out of classes).
  • Provide guidance to undeclared students and conduct regular check-ins to support academic planning and map out their pathway to finishing their degree.
  • Oversee student registration slots, coordinate an eblast and follow up with students who have questions regarding their slot based on their credits.
  • Use Degree Works to review graduation eligibility, identify discrepancies, and check in with students to ensure timely degree completion.
  • Coordinate and attend department chair meetings to stay current on advisement issues.
  • Liaise between students and department chairs on different questions or issues relating to the different majors and minors.
  • Create and oversee an advisement checklist.
  • Address miscellaneous student issues and questions, including incomplete grades (INC), grade changes, course withdrawals (drop with a W), transfer credits and course equivalents, questions regarding core requirements, Judaic Studies (JS) requirements, residency requirements, double-dipping, interdisciplinary majors and dual majors.
  • Assist with student requests for tutors.
  • Assist students with auditing a course.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • BA/BS degree preferred.
  • At least 0-1 years of related experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple student cases simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely follow-up on student advisement needs.
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, providing guidance and answering a wide range of academic-related questions.
  • Effective in working with faculty, staff, and other departments to support student success and address complex academic situations.
  • High level of accuracy in handling student records, tracking academic progress, and ensuring compliance with academic requirements.

Maximum Salary

USD $55,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $44,000.00/Yr.
