Account Executive - Marine Cargo
Location: LondonPosition Type: Full-Time, PermanentWorking Pattern: Monday to Friday, with at least 3 days per week in the office
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Account Executive to join our Marine Cargo team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some experience within Insurance who is looking to develop their career within a globally recognised insurance brokerage.
You do not need previous Cargo or Marine experience for this role. We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in insurance, a willingness to learn, and a desire to build a career in specialty broking.
Working closely with senior brokers and account executives, you will support the management of a diverse portfolio of business, primarily involving US wholesale placements into the London market, while gaining exposure to international clients and a variety of marine insurance classes.
How you'll make an impact
Key Responsibilities
- Support the placement and servicing of Marine Cargo business within the London and international insurance markets.
- Assist with reviewing new business submissions and renewal information.
- Prepare and distribute market documentation to insurers.
- Obtain and compare quotations from insurers and assist in preparing client recommendations.
- Support brokers with renewal negotiations and day-to-day client servicing activities.
- Liaise with underwriters, clients, overseas offices, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient handling of business.
- Assist with policy documentation reviews and ensure accurate records are maintained.
- Support post-placement administration activities, including updating systems and processing documentation through platforms such as PPL.
- Work closely with operational teams to help manage premium collections and maintain strong credit control practices.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, insurers, and internal colleagues.
- Contribute to team initiatives and participate in training and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company procedures, sanctions protocols, and conflict-of-interest policies.
About you
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Experience within the insurance industry.
- Experience in a broking, underwriting, account handling, or client-facing insurance role would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop technical insurance knowledge.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy when handling documentation and data.
- Commercial awareness and an interest in developing client relationships.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a busy team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Act with integrity and professionalism at all times.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
