Provides quality clinical information by accurately performing laboratory tests and procedures. Works effectively with others to meet patient and care provider needs. Experience

•  At least 3 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory

Preferred Qualifications

• Eligible for Georgia Department of Human Resources supervisor classification

Education

• Bachelor's of Science degree in a chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory science (MLS) from an accredited institution; or U.S. military provided training as a MLS; or Bachelor's degree that meets the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489

Certification Summary

• American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist

Job Responsibilities

• Performs technical functions of Medical Technologist 1 as outlined in job description and other duties as required by department.
• Follows departmental and system policies and procedures, including those pertaining to compliance and safety.
• Performs administrative tasks to include but not limited to revision of forms, training checklists/ job aides, and regulatory documents to include CAP crosswalks.
• Ensures services are delivered in a fiscally responsible manner through management of staff workflow, and supply inventory.
• Provides technical support for staff and acts as a preceptor for staff training. Conducts education and training for new personnel and students.
• Designee for competencies (if qualified).
• Performs quality control, instrument validation, maintenance review and troubleshooting task, taking appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision.
• Acts as a resource technologist on off-shifts.
• Performs and is competent in specialty testing.
• Actively promotes a lean culture by performing duties to promote an understanding and consistent use of lean principals and processes.
• Attends and participates in shift meetings, staff meetings and laboratory town hall meetings.
• Initiates and leads implementation of at least 3 leadership approved lean process improvement ideas per year.
• Performs duties, makes decisions, takes actions, and continually strives to improve work processes using an awareness of how work performed is valued by the customer.
