An Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Scheduler or Program Coordinator in Washington State typically manages staff shift rotations, department calendars, and operational logistics for pre-hospital or educational medical services. Because dedicated "EMS Scheduler" titles are often embedded within broader EMS administrative, program management, or dispatch roles (such as at Pierce College District or local fire departments), the core job description components include the following: Key Responsibilities

• Shift and Calendar Management: Maintain 24/7 or rotational staff schedules, coordinate field crew calendars, and track leave requests or overtime coverage. 
• Administrative Coordination: Support EMS program chairs, directors, or fire chiefs with operational workflows, meetings, and record-keeping. 
• Resource and Liaison Support: Coordinate staff, rooms, and equipment allocation for training labs, clinical shifts, or emergency response readiness. 
• Compliance and Data Tracking: Monitor certification renewals, training records, and continuing education (OTEP) compliance under Washington State Department of Health (WA DOH) guidelines. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or emergency management is often preferred. 
• Experience: 1 to 3 years of administrative, scheduling, or supervisory experience, preferably within a hospital, fire service, or emergency healthcare environment. 
• Knowledge & Skills: Proficiency with electronic scheduling systems/databases, strong communication and conflict-resolution skills, and familiarity with Washington State labor rules or healthcare terminology.
