The Senior Manager of Retail Supervision & Risk Management serves as the 1st Line of Defense (1LOD) senior supervisory individual contributor responsible for executing tactical supervision over model-driven activity in accordance with established supervisory frameworks, controls, and review procedures.

 

This role performs direct supervisory review of model outputs and associated facts and circumstances, applies seasoned broker-dealer and/or investment advisor supervisory judgment, and determines appropriate supervisory dispositions and related supervisory risk ratings / severity levels in line with regulatory expectations and firm standards.

 

This position is a business-aligned supervisory execution role requiring deep practical supervision experience, strong understanding of model output risk, and the ability to interpret nuanced output behavior through a regulator-defensible supervisory lens.

 

This individual partners closely with AI Model Supervision, Compliance, Risk, and other stakeholders to provide advisory feedback on control performance, surface trends and findings, and support ongoing calibration of supervisory reviews and dispositions. A strong candidate may also serve as a capable support partner when building control frameworks, as needed.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Direct Supervisory Control Execution, Advisory Calibration & Disposition

• Execute supervisory review routines and tactical controls designed for model-enabled workflows, including sampling, queue-based review, exception-based review, and escalation handling, as applicable, and in accordance with approved supervisory procedures and control frameworks.
• Interpret model outputs to determine appropriate supervisory disposition, including whether the output presents a regulatory, client, conduct, or operational concern and the corresponding supervisory risk rating / severity level.
• Document review results, rationale, findings, and dispositions in a clear, defensible, and audit-ready manner.
• Identify where controls appear effective, where they create excessive noise, and where supervisory precision or risk coverage may benefit from refinement.

Observation Reporting & Insight Generation

• Produce recurring and ad hoc reporting on supervisory observations, findings, themes, root causes, and emerging risks related to model outputs and model-enabled activity.
• Synthesize review outcomes into concise, decision-useful insights for business, risk, compliance, and senior leadership audiences.
• Highlight notable trends, recurring control outcomes, and emerging issues that may indicate supervisory blind spots, training needs, or control design opportunities.
• Escalate material findings and significant supervisory concerns in a timely and well-supported manner.

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Partner with and support calibration discussions with AI Model Supervision, Compliance, Risk, Product, and other stakeholders to promote consistent dispositions, sound supervisory standards, and high-quality review execution and to inform ongoing refinement of supervisory playbooks, procedures, and review guidance.
• Provide advisory feedback to applicable business partners and stakeholders on control performance, review criteria, threshold effectiveness, and observed supervisory outcomes.
• Serve as a strong individual contributor and subject matter expert in governance forums, working groups, and calibration discussions involving model output review and supervisory disposition.

Executive Communication & Professional Presence

• Present supervisory observations, findings, and control performance themes to senior audiences in a concise, credible, and well-structured manner.
• Translate detailed supervisory review outcomes into executive-ready summaries that support informed decision-making, risk governance, and leadership awareness.
• Maintain strong written and verbal communication standards suitable for regulators, auditors, senior leaders, and cross-functional partners.

Procedures, Quality & Exam Readiness

• Support development and refinement of supervisory procedures, review guides, disposition guidance, and related training content for model output supervision.
• Contribute to audit and regulatory exam readiness through well-maintained supervisory documentation, evidence, and rationale for review outcomes.
• Promote consistent supervisory execution through disciplined documentation, calibration participation, and quality-focused feedback.

 

Please note: this position is Monday - Friday during standard business hours with a hybrid work model (4 days in office, 1 day working from home). It is only available in the locations listed. Candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate on their own to one of the listed locations.

 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.

 

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you have

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in broker-dealer and/or investment advisor supervision, with direct experience personally performing supervisory reviews, dispositions, escalations, and issue management in a regulated environment.
• FINRA Series 7, 66, and 9/10 (required).
• Demonstrated practical experience supervising activity subject to regulations such as Regulation Best Interest (Reg BI), communications-related supervision, fiduciary considerations, and other retail investor protection requirements.
• Experience reviewing complex facts and circumstances, exercising sound supervisory judgment, assigning defensible outcomes, and documenting regulator-defensible supervisory rationale.
• Working understanding of AI/ML or other model-enabled workflows, including model output risks, limitations, and how outputs can create supervisory implications.
• Experience producing supervisory reporting, trend analyses, issue summaries, or management updates for senior audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supervising AI-enabled, digitally enabled, or otherwise technology-driven client-facing or representative-facing workflows.
• Experience participating in calibration discussions or providing supervisory input on control tuning with Compliance, Risk, Product, or other oversight partners.
• Experience supporting audits, regulatory exams, remediation programs, or supervisory quality assurance initiatives.
• Experience presenting findings, trends, or supervisory themes to senior leadership or governance forums.
