Position Summary...

As a Staff Data Scientist, you will lead the development and deployment of machine learning solutions that power personalization and ad targeting across VIZIO. You'll tackle complex, ambiguous business and product challenges by translating customer needs into scalable ML systems and driving them through rigorous evaluation, experimentation, and iteration. Working closely with Product, Engineering, and fellow Data Scientists, you'll shape solution approaches, influence technical decisions, and deliver measurable business impact. You'll contribute hands-on development of machine learning and deep learning models at scale, champion best practices in modeling and experimentation, and help drive technical excellence across high-impact initiatives.

What you'll do...

We are a machine learning team focused on personalization across VIZIO's platform. Leveraging expertise in deep learning and statistical data analysis, the group focuses on creating scalable and powerful deep learning models using frameworks like PyTorch and MLflow. Collaborating closely with cross-functional partners, the team continuously enhances model performance and deployment to deliver impactful user experiences. This environment encourages innovation, rigorous testing, and application of best practices to solve complex challenges in recommender systems and ad targeting, contributing to the platform's growth and customer engagement. What You'll Do: Tackle ambiguous, high-impact problems by translating product and business questions into well-scoped machine learning and data science solutions. Build, evaluate, and iterate on machine learning and deep learning models for personalization, recommendation, and ad targeting use cases. Design and apply rigorous offline evaluation methodologies and online experimentation frameworks to measure model and system performance. Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders to align on priorities, navigate technical tradeoffs, and drive execution across initiatives. Lead projects from ideation through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing optimization in production environments. Champion best practices in modeling, experimentation, and ML development, helping drive scalable, reliable, and impactful machine learning solutions. About You: Extensive experience designing, training, and deploying machine learning models for real-world systems, particularly in personalization, recommendation, ranking, targeting, or related domains. Deep foundations in machine learning and statistics, including deep learning, optimization, model evaluation, experimentation, and scalable model development. Production Python experience, familiarity with distributed data processing tools such as PySpark, and proficiency with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX. Demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguous, technically complex problem spaces and lead high-impact initiatives from problem formulation through deployment and iteration. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience influencing technical decisions and aligning stakeholders to deliver impactful machine learning solutions. The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
