Description
The Detailer is responsible for ensuring that the cosmetic quality of all vehicles meets the Lehighton Ford standards of excellence. He/She will conduct preparation for delivery of each vehicle at the direction of the Department Manager, and in accordance with the approved processes of the Detail Department. The successful candidate will keep all equipment and tools in good working order. When maintenance or repairs are necessary, he/she will report the issue to the Department Manager. The successful candidate strives to exceed the agreed personal performance goals and embraces and models the company culture and values.
Cleans and refurbishes new and used automobiles, performing any combination of the following duties:
- Reports to Department Head for work order assignments.
- Washes vehicle exterior to clean cars, using cleaning solution, water, clothes, and brushes.
- Applies wax to auto body, and wipes or buffs surfaces to protect surfaces and preserve shine, using a cloth or buffing machine.
- Vacuums interiors of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris, using a vacuum cleaner.
- Cleans upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices.
- Applies revitalizers and preservatives to vinyl or leather surfaces and treats fabrics with spot and stain-resistant chemicals to preserve and protect interior components.
- Cleans engine and engine compartment with various cleaning agents and equipment to remove grease and grime.
- Applies paint to chipped body surfaces of the vehicle, using a container of touch-up paint.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

- The Detailer is personable – a team player and demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively.
- Must be an active listener and exercise sound judgment.
- Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Must be a good time manager and able to handle multiple assignments.
- The successful candidate will exemplify integrity, strive for self-improvement, and have an open-minded, “can-do” attitude.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment testing including background checks and drug testing, and hold a valid PA driver’s license with a good driving history.
- Must be able to operate pressure washers and other vehicle detailing tools.
JOB EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Level of Education: Grade 12.
- Certificate from a vocational or technical school in auto detailing a plus.
- Valid and Clean PA Drivers' License with no restrictions to operate a motor vehicle.
- Basic knowledge of auto detailing/paint application processes and associated repair procedures.
