The School Based Navigator serves as a vital link between schools, families, and behavioral health services. In this role, you will coordinate referrals, support families through insurance and funding processes, facilitate access to care, maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate with internal departments and community partners to ensure students receive timely and effective services. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy relationship building, coordinating resources, and helping families navigate systems of care.

Key Responsibilities:
· Coordinate student referrals and connect families to behavioral health services in a timely and supportive manner
· Guide families through insurance verification, Medicaid screening, funding options, and service enrollment processes
· Schedule intake appointments and connect students to appropriate services when school-based care is not available or appropriate
· Build collaborative relationships with school personnel, families, and community partners to support student success and service continuity
· Connect families with community resources and crisis services when needed
· Maintain accurate intake, eligibility, and compliance documentation within electronic health record systems
· Support ongoing insurance verification and documentation updates to ensure continued access to services throughout treatment
· Collaborate with Billing, Health Information Management (HIM), Quality, and other teams to meet regulatory and operational requirements
· Answer incoming calls and provide administrative support to school-based service teams
· Maintain compliance with privacy, confidentiality, security, and ethical standards
· Participate in training, team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and professional development activities
· Perform other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
· High school diploma required
· Understanding of mental health systems and school-based service models
· Knowledge of community resources and the ability to coordinate support services
· Proficiency in documentation, electronic health records, and telephonic communication
Additional Qualifications:
· Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
· Successful completion of background screening, including criminal history, driving record, abuse/neglect screening, and fingerprint check
· Current driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current automobile insurance required
Physical Requirements
· Perform sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and negligible force frequently to move objects
· Use hands, fingers, and arms repetitively for typing, writing, and other computer-related tasks throughout the workday
· Sit for extended periods while performing job duties
· Occasionally stand and walk during the workday as needed
· Ability to perform all essential functions of a sedentary office-based position
