ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to thefunctions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of thejob with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff or volunteers responsible for providing a variety of senior citizen services and activities including frail elderly, inter-generational, meal services, and adult fitness.
- Establish schedules and methods for providing assigned senior programs and services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
- Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
- Perform the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit including the coordination of senior affairs events and activities with various City departments.
- Plan, develop and monitor programs designed for seniors who are physically or mentally challenged; modify programs to meet participant needs.
- Design, develop and deliver workshops and presentations targeted at addressing and resolving frail elderly issues.
- Oversee the work of staff involved in inter-generational, volunteer management, meal service and adult fitness programs for senior citizens.
- Oversee the operations of a meal site program for seniors; ensure meals are ordered and delivered; may coordinate transportation; ensure proper delivery and service in a timely manner.
- Promote and coordinate specific activities within the senior services program; prepare program event and facility marketing material including news releases, flyers, schedule of events, pamphlets and brochures.
- Participate in the selection of senior affairs staff and volunteers; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
- Participate in the preparation and administration of the senior affairs budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.
- Prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations, senior participation and activities.
- May monitor compliance with various contract agreements for assigned area.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the fields of health care, meal preparation, gerontology, recreational therapy and management.
- Respond to and resolve citizen inquiries and complaints.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in gerontology, sociology, recreation, business administration; and
Four (4) years of program management experience; and
To include two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Senior services grant-funded program management experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of an appropriate valid C.P.R. Certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.Environmental:
