Position Overview: This position supports the Florida Army National Guard J9 Employment Support Program (ESP) as a FLESP Employment Coach. The Guard treats this program as a readiness asset: it connects Florida National Guard members, spouses, and veterans to jobs, education, and apprenticeships across the state, with a locally hired, full-time coach in each of six regions. In this role, you will manage the South region caseload of unemployed Guard members and spouses, contact each at least every two weeks, and move them toward employment, education, or apprenticeship, while building the regional employer network and representing the program at units and community events. This position reports to the FLESP Lead Coach.

Position Responsibilities:

• Contact every assigned unemployed service member and spouse at least every two weeks; evaluate each job seeker and present every option available: employment, education, and apprenticeship.

• Provide direct support in the job search, including resume and application help, interview preparation, referrals, and follow-up; document every contact and the assistance provided.

• Contact unit leadership to schedule and conduct briefings and to collect employment data on unit members.

• Develop and maintain relationships with employers in the region and maintain the regional entries in the ESP Employer POC list.

• Represent the program at Yellow Ribbon events, job fairs, chamber of commerce and SHRM events, American Job Centers, and other employment events as directed; provide ESP information and collect employer and job seeker leads.

• Support the South region event calendar of approximately 25 events per year.

• Update the Government-furnished Salesforce client database daily, keeping records complete, current, and accurate (Salesforce licenses and training are provided by the Government).

• Relay any USERRA, employer-relations, or employer-advocacy issue to ESGR within one business day (ESGR retains statutory authority for those matters).

• Report any severe or urgent issue involving a member to the Lead Coach and the COR within one business day.

• Gather information from events and local labor markets and report regional employment trends for the Monthly Progress Report.

• Coordinate with CareerSource Florida, American Job Centers, and other state and federal employment resources as partners.

• Handle member PII and Controlled Unclassified Information only in Government-furnished or KSA-approved systems, never on personal devices.

Requirements

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Human Resources, Psychology, Business Management, Business Administration, or Social Science preferred

• Prior case management experience, or experience with employment services programs, personnel management, or human resources

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Knowledge of Reserve Component operations, regulations, policies, and deployment cycles

• Ability to work independently in a distributed team and manage a caseload against a bi-weekly contact standard

• Must reside in or near the assigned region

• Professional appearance, business casual or better

• Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and ability to travel within the region (mileage reimbursed)

• Ability to pass a background screening and complete Government-required training and access paperwork before the first member contact


Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Current or former member of the Florida National Guard or Reserve Component, or a military spouse; familiarity with Florida units and drill locations

• Experience with Salesforce or a comparable case management system

• Established employer, chamber, CareerSource, or American Job Center relationships in the region

• Experience presenting to military audiences and unit leadership
