Description

The Recruiter is the operational and relationship glue between clients and drivers. This role is responsible for sourcing, placing, and retaining qualified drivers and staff—ensuring clients get the talent they need while drivers get consistent, quality assignments. Recruiters are commissioned on gross profit and directly accountable for fulfillment performance. When a driver rolls off an assignment, the Recruiter manages redeployment to minimize downtime and protect GP. Areas of ownership include driver sourcing, placement, retention, redeployment, compliance documentation, and day-to-day client satisfaction within assigned accounts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Source, screen, and place qualified drivers and staff to meet client demand

• Build and maintain strong relationships with both clients and drivers for long-term retention

• Proactively manage driver redeployment to minimize downtime and protect gross profit

• Monitor assignment performance and intervene early when issues arise

• Ensure compliance documentation and onboarding requirements are completed accurately and timely

• Partner with Commercial Managers to align recruiting capacity with growth goals

• Maintain an active candidate pipeline through job boards, referrals, and outreach

• Manage the full candidate lifecycle from initial contact through assignment start

• Track and report on fill rate, time-to-fill, and retention metrics

• Participate in team huddles and contribute to capacity planning discussions

Regular Activities:

• Responsible for recruiting for both staffing and direct hire jobs in their market

• Reviews applications in Tenstreet, if partial, sends invitation to complete full app

• Makes decision if to move forward with candidate

• Updates application status and initiates MVR and CDLIS+

• If candidate passes MVR and CDL, sends drug screen, hiring docs, Clearinghouse request, and initiates other background checks as needed

• Updates application and subject note box in Tenstreet, confirms history is accurate, tags priority, sends to DHS/Ops for processing

• Ensure Welcome Packet is received and countersigned (driver orientation checklist, safety pledge, driver handbook, accident injury expectations, driver benefit summary acknowledgement)

• Sends DQ file/greenlight email to branch distribution, emails payroll to confirm correct branch for applicant, adds candidate to find me a home

• Enters new orders received by customer immediately into Bullhorn

• Match and place candidates on assignment

• Use Bullhorn for candidate and requisition flow; to include shortlist, customer submissions, interviews and list views to manage activity

• Engage with customers to understand requirements, present submissions, update their recruiting funnel based on customer needs, and place candidate on the Job

• Work assigned Jobs in Bullhorn and use Bullhorn status to communicate how they are managing the order, e.g., if they require more information from the customer, if they are deprioritizing due to difficulty to fill, if they are no longer working the order due to fill challenges or customer challenges

• Manage job description, when job is published, and work with their Area Director to develop acquisition plan in partnership with Marketing

• Utilize Bullhorn for texting candidate throughout the hiring and placement process (align our texting strategy across regions and marketing to a consistent process (Tenstreet, HubSpot, SimpleText, Bullhorn)

• Conduct Road Ready Driver Orientation
 

Requirements

Education and Certifications: 

• High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred

Skills and Qualifications: 

• 1–3 years of recruiting experience, preferably in staffing or light industrial/transportation

• Strong phone presence and ability to build rapport quickly with candidates and clients

• Comfort with high-volume, fast-paced recruiting environments

• Familiarity with ATS/CRM systems and job board sourcing

• Attention to detail for compliance and documentation requirements

• Strong leadership, critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills with a growth mindset

• Demonstrates strong collaboration and communication skills (written and verbal)
