Description

Performs human support work supervising, assisting and instructing program participants in the safe and effective use of equipment practices related to yoga programs; does related work as required. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the facility supervisor. 

 

This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for peripheral vision, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

Plans and instructs members participating in Yoga group fitness programs and activities. Instructs yoga exercises and coordinates class time according the group fitness schedule. Enforces fitness room policies, maintains order. Inspects Yoga equipment for condition and safety. Issues and collects equipment, maintains proper inventories, and monitors use. Ensures towels and other supplies are stocked. Performs related tasks as required.

Through knowledge of Yoga as it pertains to the Group Fitness field and related rules and regulations programmed at the facility; through knowledge of first aid practices; ability to maintain order in a public facility; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, associates and the general public; ability to adhere to program standards and objectives outlined by superiors; ability to meet and deal effectively with the public.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and moderate experience in structured Yoga instruction.

Possession of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Basic First Aid certifications, and Nationally Registered Yoga Training Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. Possession of an appropriate driver’s license in the State of North Carolina.
