Coordinator II- Water Adjudication

Whatcom County Superior Court is an independent branch of government and personnel employed under the judicial branch of government. The positions are in accordance with GR 29. Under GR 29, the Presiding Judge is responsible for the daily operations of the Court, which includes working conditions, hiring, discipline, and termination decisions.

This position serves as the Water Adjudication Coordinator for Superior Court and is responsible for coordinating operational activities supporting the WRIA 1 Nooksack Water Adjudication proceeding. In addition to coordinating the day-to-day administration of the case, this position develops and implements administrative processes, conducts research and analysis, coordinates communication among stakeholders, and supports judicial officers and Court Administration throughout this complex, multi-year litigation. 

Key Job Duties Include:

• Coordinates operational activities supporting the WRIA 1 Nooksack Water Adjudication proceeding by organizing projects, monitoring workflows, establishing priorities, and facilitating communication.
• Develops and implements administrative processes, procedures, and workflow improvements by evaluating operational needs, researching statutes, court procedures, and operational requirements.
• Coordinates case management activities by maintaining tracking systems, organizing case-related information, monitoring project milestones, and supporting operational readiness throughout all phases of the proceeding.
• Researches and analyzes legal, administrative, operational, and program information; prepares reports, recommendations, presentations, and informational materials to support operational decision-making and case administration.
• Develops public outreach and informational resources, including website content, forms, instructional materials, and communication tools to improve public understanding of Water Adjudication processes.
• Coordinates communication and collaboration among judicial officers, Court Administration, County departments, the Administrative Office of the Courts, the Washington State Department of Ecology, governmental agencies, tribes, attorneys, self-represented litigants, and members of the public.
• Coordinates meetings, stakeholder activities, and other operational functions supporting the Water Adjudication proceeding.
• Maintains operational records, reports, databases, and tracking systems to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with applicable statutes, court rules, and established procedures.
• Provides technical and administrative support utilizing Odyssey, CivicPlus, GovDelivery, and other court technology systems for case management, reporting, public communications, and operational activities.

Hours of work: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday

Salary Range: 

• MCBA- Range 130.0

Hiring rate depends on qualifications.  This position receives annual pay increases to the next step in the associated salary range (apx. 3.8%) subject to satisfactory performance, in addition to any negotiated Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA).

Requires an Associate's degree in public administration, business administration, communications, legal studies, political science, or a closely related field AND two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in program coordination, project management, administrative operations, public administration, or a related field. OR an Associate's degree in one of the above fields AND three (3) years of progressively responsible general office experience, including two (2) years of experience in program coordination, project management, administrative operations, or public administration. 

Must pass a criminal justice level background check.

Must pass job-related tests.
