Engineer – Multi-Platform Endpoint Role: Unified Communications Engineer Reporting to: Principal Workspace Platform Architecture and Engineering Role type: Manager Role Purpose As the Multi-Platform Endpoint Engineer, you are accountable for providing architecture, engineering, management, and lifecycle support across enterprise Windows, macOS, and Linux client estates. Operating as a multi-OS engineering specialist, you will ensure equal operational rigor across non-Windows and Windows devices. By administering management tools like JAMF Pro, Landscape, and Intune, you will maintain lifecycle upgrade programs, enforce device configuration standards, and maximize cross-platform user experience. In this role, you will lead and manage the following domains: Multi-OS Endpoint Solutions: Architecting and engineering cross-platform client management solutions across Windows, macOS, and Linux. macOS & Linux Engineering: Leading engineering, configuration, and app deployment activities for Apple macOS and Linux desktop estates. Platform Lifecycle & Upgrades: Managing operating system lifecycle roadmaps, major version upgrades, and hardware refresh frameworks. Endpoint Management Tooling: Maintaining and tuning management platforms including JAMF Pro, Canonical Landscape, and cross-platform management agents. Reliability & User Experience: Monitoring multi-platform system performance, ensuring client agent health, and driving future workplace technology adoption. Key Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, System Administration, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). A minimum of 5–7 years' hands-on systems engineering experience managing heterogeneous endpoint fleets (macOS, Linux, Windows) in enterprise environments. Advanced proficiency in JAMF Pro, Shell/Bash scripting, Python, Apple Business Manager (ABM), and Linux desktop administration. Certified Jamf Pro Admin (CTA/CCA) or equivalent Apple/Linux professional certifications are highly desirable. Multi-OS Engineering Mastery Deep technical comprehension of macOS internals (plist, mobileconfig, zsh), Linux distributions (Ubuntu/RedHat desktop management), and Windows baselines. Tooling & Technical Proficiency Hands-on engineering proficiency in JAMF Pro, Canonical Landscape, Intune, Apple Business Manager, Shell scripting, Python, and Git version control. Risk Management & Multi-OS Patching Ability to structure zero-day vulnerability patching across non-Windows OS estates without breaking native developer workflows. Governance & Fleet Standards Experience defining unified device compliance policies, configuration profiles, and software catalog governance across diverse operating systems. Service Delivery & Operational Support Track record of delivering seamless macOS and Linux engineering support, maintaining client health, and eliminating platform disparities. Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring Ability to query multi-platform telemetry, monitor agent enrollment stability, and track hardware performance health. Stakeholder Management & Developer Alignment Effective communicator skilled in collaborating with engineering, developer, and creative teams using non-Windows devices. Cross-Domain Security Collaboration Partnering with security engineers to ensure seamless deployment of EDR tools (Defender) and disk encryption (FileVault/LUKS) on macOS/Linux. Technical Execution & Problem Solving Proven capability to debug complex operating system level issues, kernel extensions, and system permissions across platforms. Continuous Improvement & Automation Focus on building automated enrollment workflows, custom configuration profiles, and self-service application catalogs. Key Accountabilities & Success Measures macOS & Linux Platform Engineering Accountability: Manage, configure, and maintain enterprise JAMF Pro and Linux management tooling for automated device enrollment and software management. Success Measures: 100% automated zero-touch enrollment for macOS via ABM and JAMF; >98% enrollment compliance across all active non-Windows devices. Lifecycle Management & OS Upgrades Accountability: Plan and execute annual major OS upgrade campaigns for macOS and Linux device fleets. Success Measures: >90% of global macOS fleet updated to current or N-1 supported operating system within 90 days of general release. Cross-Platform Reliability & Security Alignment Accountability: Ensure security agents, disk encryption policies, and compliance guardrails are fully functional across Windows, macOS, and Linux fleets. Success Measures: 100% compliance with corporate FileVault/LUKS/BitLocker encryption requirements; >98% security agent health across all OS platforms.
