Job Title: Surgical Technologist
Location: Galesburg, Illinois
Schedule: Full-Time | Varied Day Shifts | 6:45 AM–3:15 PM or 9:00 AM–5:30 PM
Pay Range: $27.26–$38.48 per hour
Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 with a two-year commitment
Relocation Assistance: May be available and discussed during the interview process
Travel Requirement: Occasional travel to affiliated regional hospitals; mileage reimbursed
Job Overview
A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join its Surgical Services team in Galesburg, Illinois.
The Surgical Technologist will support a broad range of surgical specialties, including orthopedic, general surgery, gynecology, urology, ophthalmology, podiatry, GI, robotic procedures, and C-sections. This role is ideal for a well-rounded surgical tech who is comfortable scrubbing multiple service lines and adapting to changing case volumes.
The organization strongly prefers candidates with at least two years of Surgical Technologist experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for scheduled surgical procedures
- Set up sterile instruments, equipment, supplies, and procedural materials
- Function in the scrub role during surgical procedures
- Maintain sterile technique throughout each case
- Anticipate surgeon needs and efficiently pass instruments, sutures, and supplies
- Perform and support procedures across multiple surgical specialties
- Complete accurate instrument, sponge, needle, and sharps counts
- Assist with patient positioning and preparation as appropriate
- Ensure surgical instruments and equipment are functioning properly
- Support room turnover and preparation between cases
- Follow infection-prevention, sterile-processing, and perioperative safety standards
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other perioperative staff
- Utilize Epic for clinical documentation and Pyxis for medication and supply workflows as appropriate
- Maintain knowledge of surgeon preference cards and procedural setup requirements
- Float to affiliated regional hospitals when staffing or surgical volume requires coverage
- Perform other Surgical Technologist duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique and operating room procedures
- Ability to scrub multiple surgical specialties
- Strong understanding of surgical instrumentation and equipment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt to varying surgical schedules and case volumes
- Willingness to travel to affiliated regional campuses when needed
Preferred
- Two or more years of Surgical Technologist experience
- Certified Surgical Technologist credential through NBSTSA
- Experience scrubbing orthopedic, general, ophthalmology, gynecology, urology, and C-section procedures
- Robotic surgery experience
- Previous experience working across multiple hospital campuses
- Experience with Epic and Pyxis
Department Information
The Surgical Services department includes:
- 5 operating rooms
- 1 endoscopy room
- 1 urology room
- Broad multi-specialty surgical caseload
- Regional coverage that may include a mid-sized hospital and affiliated critical-access hospitals
Mileage is reimbursed when travel to another campus is required.
Schedule
Typical shift options include:
- 6:45 AM–3:15 PM
- 9:00 AM–5:30 PM
Ten-hour shifts may also be discussed based on department volume and scheduling needs.
