Facility Management Specialist

Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Package: Starting £38,880 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

Working Pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight, with every other Friday as a non-working day. This role is operational and customer facing, so employees are required to work fully onsite. We support flexible working arrangements where possible, including part-time and varied working hours, while maintaining an onsite presence. AWE is currently recruiting for a Facility Management Specialist to support the delivery of safe, compliant and effective facilities management services across a diverse operational estate.

The successful candidate will provide specialist advice to Facility Managers, coordinate service delivery, engage with stakeholders and help ensure that facilities remain safe, available and fit for purpose. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, building relationships and making a tangible difference to operational performance.

As Facility Management Specialist, you will:

  • Support the delivery of facilities management services across a portfolio of operational facilities.
  • Act as a key point of contact for facility users, helping to resolve issues and improve customer experience.
  • Monitor compliance activities and support the management of facility risks and control measures.
  • Coordinate maintenance, statutory inspections and service provider activities.
  • Assist in ensuring facilities are maintained to appropriate safety, security and environmental standards.
  • Support the implementation of work control processes and safe systems of work.
  • Provide data, reports and operational insights to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure facility changes and upgrades are effectively integrated into operations.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Build effective relationships with operational customers, contractors and internal stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?

We do need you to demonstrate experience in the following:

  • Experience within facilities management, estates management, property operations or a related discipline.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience working with customers and stakeholders in a service delivery environment.
  • Ability to analyse information and identify practical solutions to operational issues.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • Good understanding of health, safety and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital management systems.

We’d like you to have experience in or an understanding of some of the following:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
  • IWFM membership or working towards professional accreditation.
  • Experience working in a regulated, infrastructure, defence, nuclear or industrial environment.
  • Experience managing contractors or service providers.
  • Understanding of asset management, work control or compliance management processes.

You’ll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
