3D Scanning Engineer

Overview 

We’re seeking an Imaging Systems specialist with a background in engineering, customer-facing experience, and a passion for 3D software and metrology to join our Solutions Group. You’ll play a key role in ensuring customer success by delivering technical expertise, project execution, and hands-on training for our clients. 

This is a hybrid position, meaning that you will need to live within easy driving distance to our Technology Center in Columbia, Maryland. 

What You’ll Do 

Technical Development & Product Integration 

• Work with product development and algorithm teams to test and demo Quidient Reality software focused on 3D scene reconstruction, software integrations, and metrology solutions. 

• Develop Python-based solutions on top of engine APIs. 

• Hands-on with Quidient Reality® and able to adapt to changing customer requirements.  

• Write code to integrate 3D software packages (3D CAD software, Blender, etc.). 

• Conduct systems-level testing of Quidient Reality® software. 

• Assist with drafting product requirement documents, training manuals, and demonstration plans. 

Customer Engagement & Solutions Consulting 

• Train customers (including developers) on Quidient Reality® tools and APIs. 

• Communicate technical information to a non technical audience. 

• Provide technical support and assist with customer onboarding. 

• Help design, assemble, and operate reality-capture rigs and systems for on-site presentations. 

• Have a genuine curiosity for scene reconstruction, 3D imaging, and photogrammetry. 

• Adapt reference Python code to customer problems. 

• Represent Quidient at conferences and industry events. 

What You Bring 

Must-Have Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 

• 3+ years of experience working with 3D software (e.g., Blender, Meshlab, CloudCompare, etc.) 

• 3+ years of experience with script-level software (e.g., Python). 

• Strong customer-facing experience (presentations, onboarding, troubleshooting). 

• Experience with imaging systems, immersive technologies, photogrammetry and in-field customer interactions. 

• Willingness to travel up to 30%. 

• Must be based near Columbia, MD, or willing to commute. 

• Meet Quidient, customer, and government security requirements, which may include, but are not limited to, a background check, citizenship verification, and Criminal Justice Information Services verification.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications: 

• Experience with scene reconstruction in automotive, healthcare, body, apparel, and/or entertainment markets. 

• Familiarity with Three.js or other web-based 3D rendering frameworks. 

• Enthusiastic about software development beyond work, through projects or learning. 

• Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Compensation: 

• Salary Range: $95,000 - $120,000
