Staff Engineer R&D

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Material Engineer specializing in materials and components for semiconductor power module packaging to join our dynamic and international team of material experts for frame power modules. This position concentrates on the critical materials and components that form the backbone of power modules, such as baseplates, ceramic substrates, electrical connectors, PCBs and plastic housings. Your role Key responsibilities in your new role Take over material responsibility for different materials and components as procured goods for further processing in our power module production, ensuring superior performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.  Participate in power module customization and cost optimization projects responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of material related work packages such as analyses at internal and external laboratories.  Perform or assign material characterization and derive new test methods, and material specifications for the assessment and release of new materials, suppliers and processes.  Collaborate with cross-site, international teams across China, Germany and Hungary from engineering, procurement, supply chain and production to align on material selection, qualification processes, and quality standards.  Solve challenges related to materials and components as well as power module production.  Support supplier management by defining specifications, assessing new suppliers, and ensuring material quality through a close partnership with our suppliers. Your profile Qualifications and skills to help you succeed  A university degree in material sciences, mechanical engineering, physics, or equivalent.  Strong background in experimental material characterization and a profound experience with at least one of the main materials of power modules and their production processes (baseplates, ceramic substrates, electrical connectors, PCBs and/or plastic housings).  1- 3 years of professional experience in the industrial field of material or mechanical engineering, preferably power module engineering or its supplier industries.  Preferably, experience with CAD software tools.  Preferentially, first knowledge of power semiconductors and the respective back-end processing.
