Position Overview
The Global Category Manager, Metals (Americas) is responsible for executing Hunter Douglas’ global metals procurement strategy across North and South America, with a primary focus on aluminum extrusions and related metal categories. This role partners closely with Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Commercial teams to drive sourcing excellence, supplier performance, cost competitiveness, and business continuity across a global manufacturing network. Directly impacting procurement MBOs, the position is accountable for delivering cost savings, productivity improvements, risk mitigation, supplier innovation, and sustainable sourcing outcomes while strengthening Hunter Douglas’ global procurement transformation.
What you'll do

Execute the global metals category strategy across the Americas region, ensuring alignment with global procurement objectives and category plans.

Lead strategic sourcing initiatives including RFQs, supplier evaluations, cost modeling, contract negotiations, and supplier selection.

Deliver annual savings, productivity improvements, KPI targets, and total cost of ownership reductions across metals categories.

Develop and implement sourcing strategies for aluminum extrusions and related metal commodities while balancing supply security, cost, and risk.

Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvements in quality, delivery, service, sustainability, and cost competitiveness.

Partner with Engineering, R&D, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to support innovation, value engineering, design-to-cost initiatives, and implementation of sourcing decisions.

Provide market intelligence and strategic recommendations regarding aluminum markets, tariffs, geopolitical developments, supplier capabilities, and cost drivers.

Lead procurement transformation and continuous improvement initiatives while driving standardization, best practices, supplier development, and stakeholder alignment across the region.

Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5-8 years of procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing experience within a global or matrixed organization.
- Experience managing metals procurement categories, preferably aluminum extrusions and related industrial materials.
- Proven success delivering measurable cost reductions, productivity gains, and supplier performance improvements.
- Strong experience developing sourcing strategies, leading RFQs, negotiating commercial agreements, and managing strategic supplier relationships.
- Knowledge of metals market dynamics, manufacturing processes, commodity cost drivers, and global supply chain management.
- Strong analytical skills with experience utilizing should-cost models, total cost of ownership methodologies, benchmarking, and market analysis.
- Effective project management and change management capabilities with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation skills within a global matrix organization.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
