Our Client is an International Energy company with Offshore Gulf of Mexico (GoM) operations encompassing the entire value chain of oil and gas exploration and production, with a focus on safety, environmental stewardship, and technological innovation.

 

They are seeking a Completions Advisor to support their team in Houston, TX.

 

Duration: One (1) Year with potential for extension
Location: Houston, TX
Work Schedule: 5/40 (Hybrid)

 

The Completions Advisor will be part of the Wellsite Team and will support the Gulf of Mexico Business Unit, based in Houston, TX, in managing both short- and long-term planning as well as controlling program execution while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This position requires a candidate with a Project Manager mindset—someone who can not only handle the technical aspects of completions engineering but also effectively oversee vendor performance, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure accountability across all stakeholders. Prior experience working in a consulting capacity is highly valued, as it demonstrates the ability to balance client expectations with project execution.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support a confirmed scope of work for sidetracks from a SPAR (dry tree wells), expected to include two to three sidetrack wells.
  • Design and plan completions for stacked frac-and-pack operations, including dual upper completions with gas injection short strings.
  • Provide input into planning for future subsea activities, primarily re-entries and sidetracks rather than new developments.
  • Interface with subsurface and production teams to ensure completion design meets well objectives (“Fit for Purpose”) and complies with regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with subsurface, drilling, subsea/facilities, and production teams to manage critical interfaces.
  • Progress new technology for low perm and/or high-angle completion techniques.
  • Manage platform-based abandonment programs utilizing platform rigs or hydraulic workover units.
  • Write detailed completion and intervention programs for safe and efficient operations while maintaining expenditures within planned budget and schedule.
  • Conduct and participate in peer reviews, risk assessments, and hazard analyses as required to support completion/intervention planning.
  • Lead vendor and contractor management efforts—ensuring service providers deliver on commitments, controlling costs, and maintaining accountability.
  • Track performance (actual vs. planned, EHS) and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Identify and implement applicable new technology to enhance safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Serve as an effective communicator, both written and verbal, with office-based teams, field personnel, Project Engineers, and contractor support teams.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 20 years’ experience in GoM deepwater projects.
  • Strong familiarity with Gulf of Mexico regulations, sand control completions, gravel pack design, subsea completions, OHGPs, perforating design, GoM P&As, floating and platform rig operations, and tubing design.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of field experience in completions operations, particularly in sand control design and execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects with a consultant mindset—balancing technical execution, stakeholder management, and vendor accountability.
  • Must pass Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Prior consulting or client-facing experience in completions/drilling project management roles.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 20 years’ experience in GoM deepwater projects for Advisor level.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in GoM deepwater projects for Engineer level.
  • Strong familiarity with Gulf of Mexico regulations, sand control completions, gravel pack design, subsea completions, OHGPs, perforating design, GoM P&As, floating and platform rig operations, and tubing design.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of field experience in completions operations, particularly in sand control design and execution.
  • Hard worker, team-oriented, and willing to mentor and learn.
  • Must pass Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship.

The employee must be certified and meet the medical and health standards to work in offshore environments, including cardiovascular fitness, respiratory proficiency, and overall physical wellness.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee will routinely engage in activities such as sitting, walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. They will be tasked with lifting heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and navigating uneven surfaces for extended periods.

Additionally, the employee should demonstrate manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for using tools, operating machinery, and executing intricate tasks. Furthermore, employee must be able to use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment. Effective communication, both orally and telephonically, is essential. Successful candidates must exhibit specific vision abilities of close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
