Overview

The full Mechanical maintenance and repair agenda is executed within Pepsico engineering standards across the entire site

that new artisans are fully integrated into the engineering structure and ways of work. ensure seamless interaction between critical stakeholders in the manufacturing environment. Ensure proper guidance, training, competency assessments and sign offs are done for new apprentices. Continuous improvement initiatives requiring mechanical skills and competence are delivered

Responsibilities

  • Single point of accountability for the condition and performance of all mechanical equipment and infrastructure on the Krugersdorp Mill site
  • Serves as a lead mechanical on repairing, installing, replacing and testing mechanical, equipment and applications
  • Siagnoses and performs complex mechanical maintenance and repairs on a variety of mechanical (process, packing, palletising and compressors and dryers)
  • Supports the site Utilities maintenance team with mechanical work
  • Serforms mechanical preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on a variety of mechanical equipment
  • Srovides troubleshooting and demand maintenance work on variety of equipment and systems along with other equipment related to production and facility operations
  • Collaborates and coaches shift apprentice to troubleshoot analog/ digital hardware problems on various systems
  • Conduct tests to troubleshoot and test transformers, motors switchgear and other mechanical devices for defects
  • Review and updates equipment maintenance schedule requests and specification changes through engineering planner
  • Diagnoses and corrects mechanical systems and equipment malfunctions, test, adjust, sequence, sychronise and align such systems and equipment as pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings
  • Spares review- complete new spares request in line with special purchase requests raised during planned maintenance and shutdown work
  • Participate in problem solving for complex mechanical engineering processes and mechanical work with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers
  • Generates reports on equipment failures, modification request and specification chages
  • Document control, updates and review equipment manuals and standards
  • Reports weekly/monthly on work done, time spent on each assignment, spares used, esources employed
  • Continous improvement
  • Complete equipment modifications request including specifications and drawing proposal
  • Complete continuous improvement initiatives to support equipment reliability, EHS, and food safety agenda
  • Tracks and documents improvement initiatives executes and process improvement challenges when they arise
  • Responsible for on the job induction of new apprentices in the business
  • Facilitate and coaches mechanical apprentices on site
  • Ensures that proper guidance is given, training, competency assessments using portfolios of evidence and sign off are done for new apprentices until they are fully qualified
  • Independence of execution
  • Set-up lead problem solving sessions with electricians
  • Complete key equipment repairs and breakdown support on critical equipment
  • Assist shift teams with troubleshooting
  • Complete equipment modifications motivation for approval
  • Review with the maintenance planner schedules based on equipment performance
  • Driving the completion of IPS starfleet action plan

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the methods, tools and equipment used in the repair of mechanical and process equipment to include procedures for the diagnosing malfunctions as well as the operation of equipment
  • Thorough knowledge of GEHMS and accepted occupational safety and health practices and principles to include safety and equipment design regulations
  • Behavioural skill
  • The person should be self starter with innovative abilities
  • The person must have analytical abilities to resolve mechanical plant breakdowns with permanent solution
  • The endurance level of this individual must be above average because of long hours and sometimes physical activities
  • Ability to work stand by and call outs
  • The person must be a team player with ability to communicate precisely and engage different stakeholder

 

Qualifications

  • N4 Mechanical engineering/ Fitter qualification
  • Trade test
  • Minimum 3 years maintenance experience in the FMCG environment
  • Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office and maintenance software( CMMS Systems- SAP)
